Cotton Condenser.

Patent for a new and improved cotton condenser. This design involves "[t]he lint pass[ing] from the gin through the flue and between the condensing-cylinders, by which it is formed into a bat. The blast from the gin serves to blow all dust from the lint through the wire-cloth of the cylinders and out through the openings in the ends of the latter. The upper cylinder will move vertically in its bearings . . . and thus adjust itself to any quantity of lint that may pass from the gin" (lines 46-55).

Patent for a new and improved cotton gin. This design "consists in the combination of the bevel-edged boards with the saws and brush, so as to facilitate the transfer of the cotton from the saws to the arc-shaped support consisting of the bevel-edged boards set at a short distance apart, and to thus straighten the fiber or lint. This gives the lint cotton a finer and lighter appearance, causing a ready allowance of a considerable addition to the usual price" (lines 8-17).

Patent for a new and improved cotton chopper and scraper. This design consists "[i]n a four-wheeled machine for scraping and chopping cotton, the combination of the two scrapers having their standards connected by a cross-bar at the top to form a foot-rest, and pivoted intermediately to the frame, with the rear rotary choppers connected adjustably with the same shaft, and arranged at an oblique angle thereto" (lines 86-93).

Cotton-Cleaning and Bat-Forming Apparatus.

Patent for a cotton-cleaning and bat-forming apparatus that prepares cotton for compression into bales. The apparatus is meant to increase the value of the cotton it processes, and do so in an efficient and inexpensive manner. The amount of compression doubles the number of pounds of cotton one can fit into a bale. The chute does not let air out of the apparatus while cotton is being cleaned, and the air-pressure in the cleaner-condenser does not restrict the cotton's movement into the cleaner.
