Patent for a car-shade adjuster in passenger-coaches of street-cars that allows shades to "be raised or lowered at will and held firmly in any desired position" (lines 18-19). It is set in tracks in the window frame, held in place by springs, and bearings to keep friction between the shade-roller and track.

Patent for girth-rigging for side-saddles that secure the saddles so the saddles only move when the horse does. It has an extended "saddle-tree so as to produce shoulders, the same underlying the saddle-seat at its front and in supporting upon its shoulders and also upon the tree in rear of the cantle-girth suspension-straps that are continuous" (lines 24-29).

Movable Shelving for Stores.

Patent for new and improved shelving. This design "consists of three sections, a central main portion and two half-sections hinged at each end of the main section, said side sections being one half the length of the main section and adapted to fold face inward against the middle section, and the whole supported upon brackets that terminate in caster-rollers, and is removably secured to the store-wall by hooks on the shelving engaging eyes in the wall . . . The object of this invention is to so construct the shelving of stores that in case of fire the sections of shelving may be quickly closed together" (lines 13-28).

Patent for a riding-saddle with a "short rigid tree, which constitutes the front or forked portion of the saddle, and [the inventor] construct[s] the body and cantle of pieces of thick but duly flexible leather" (lines 21-25). This makes the saddle more comfortable for both horse and rider.
