Production of Ta{sup 182}
This memorandum discusses briefly and approximately the two extreme programs which could be followed in the production of Ta{sup 182}: the use of present available excess reactivity, and the use of a pile, continuing no U{sup 238}, expressly to produce Ta{sup 182}. Use of lesser amounts of enriched material would achieve lesser production rates. The cost in fissionable material per gram of active isotope would remain approximately the same.

Tests of the NACA 64-010 and 64A010 Airfoil Sections at High Subsonic Mach Numbers
Memorandum presenting aerodynamic characteristics of the NACA 64-010 and 64A010 airfoil sections as determined from wind-tunnel tests at Mach numbers from 0.3 to 0.9. Comparisons are made which indicate the only significant differences in the characteristics of the two sections to be a consistently greater lift-curve slope and an approximately 10-percent greater maximum section lift coefficient at Mach numbers above 0.7 for the NACA 64-010 airfoil section.

Four in. three jaw type connector suitable for vertical mounting sample for job 11
As authorized by purchase order No. 11-2532 dated March 11, 1949 of the Kellex Corp., the first sample of a 4 inch three jaw type connector for Job 11 was fabricated. The design of the connector was per Crane Co. drawing DR-25126-D except vertical mounting. The materials were per Crane Co. drawing A-24491-C. As instructed in verbal conversation with Dr. D.D. Jacobus and as requested in Mr. J.J. Cuniffe`s letter of May 6, 1949, and Ingersoll-Rand Company`s 1 1/4 inch 534 impact wrench with suitable socket to fit the hexagon head of the operating screw of the 4 inch connector was procured on loan to make some preliminary tests. Engineering drawings are listed in a second report on the data base.

Altitude Performance of AN-F-58 Fuels in British Rolls-Royce Nene Single Combustor
"An investigation was conducted with a single combustor from a British Rolls-Royce Nene turbojet engine to determine the altitude performance characteristics of AN-F-58 fuels. Three fuel blends conforming to AN-F-58 specifications were prepared in order to determine the influence of fuel boiling temperatures and aromatic content on combustion efficiencies and altitude operational limits. The performance of the three AN-F-58 fuels was compared in the range of altitudes from sea level to 65,000 feet, engine speeds from 40- to 100- percent normal rated, and flight Mach numbers of 0.0 and 0.6" (p. 1).

Tank Tests of a Powered Model of a Compression Plane, NACA Model 171A-2
"The compression plane is intended for operation on or close to the surface of the water, and has a hull with a concave bottom which forms the upper surface of a tunnel into which air is forced under pressure to support part of the load. The results of the tests made in Langley tank no. 1 include values of the horizontal forces, trimming moment, and static pressure in the tunnel for a wide range of loads and speeds and two power conditions, and are presented in the form of curves against speed with load as a parameter. The results are scaled up to 10 times the model size for three conditions at which the model is self-propelled at a steady speed" (p. 1).
