Blasting Cartridge.

Patent for a new and improved blasting-cartridge. This design is "composed of two similar semi-cylindrical sections having flat smooth faces their entire length, adapted to rest or bear against each other and grooved to form the cylindrical fuse-opening" (lines 94-98). It further consists in the "bore tapering from said fuse-opening to the bottom or inner end of the shell, said semi-shells being provided on their outer sides and at their front ends for a portion of their lengths only with sharp-pointed spurs or projections having vertical front walls and sharp inclined rear edges" (lines 1-7).

This design consists in "the combination, with the frame and plows, the hopper supported on the frame, and the oscillating agitator or stirrer in the bottom of the hopper, having a gear of the wheel-axle having an eccentric, the ring or strap embracing the eccentric and having a rod, and the rocking segment having a tubular arm receiving the rod to be oscillated thereby" (lines 73-81).

This design consists in "[t]he combination, with a railroad-rail having notches in its flanges, of a fish-plate composed of a single piece of metal adapted to embrace the flange and web of the rail, said fish-plate being plain on one side and provided on the other side with ribs, perforated lugs projecting from the ribs at the ends of the fish-plate, said fish-plate being provided with perforations on one side to align with notches in the rail-flange, and notches in the other side out of alignment with the rail-flange" (lines 3-14).
