Production of geothermal fluids by the natural flashing process. Design and analysis of geothermal wells in two-phase flow. First annual report (open access)

Production of geothermal fluids by the natural flashing process. Design and analysis of geothermal wells in two-phase flow. First annual report

The two-phase flow system is analyzed as it develops and changes in the well. The product of the study will be a calculational technique to allow the design of geothermal wells in two-phase flow. The overall approach to the project is summarized, and the nature of the two-phase flow problem is discussed. The various elements of the program are presented. (MHR)

Development and evaluation of DOP generators for special uses (open access)

Development and evaluation of DOP generators for special uses

The Environmental Standards Group at Mound Laboratory uses ''cold'' DOP generators to produce background aerosol concentration for testing HEPA filters in clean-room operations. Two simple, portable, air-operated aerosol generators were built and tested to determine their performance. The results show the particle size distribution is in the 0.3 to 0.8 ..mu..m range and that /sup 1///sub 4/ or /sup 3///sub 8/ in. i.d. tubing to the nozzles should be used.

Inhalation dose conversion factors for various radionuclides associated with liquid metal fast breeder reactors (open access)

Inhalation dose conversion factors for various radionuclides associated with liquid metal fast breeder reactors

This report presents (1) values of the parameters needed in the estimation of internal radiation doses from inhalation of radioactive aerosols resulting from hypothetical liquid metal fast breeder reactor accidents, (2) the values of the time integrated organ deposited radioactivity per unit of radioactivity inhaled (..mu..Ci-days/Ci inhaled) based on a metabolic model that incorporates the respiratory tract model adopted by the International Commission on Radiological Protection Task Group on Lung Dynamics and (3) the values of the dose conversion factors (F-factors) in rem per curie inhaled for various important LMFBR radionuclides.
