Caster.

Patent for a new and improved insect-killing furniture-caster. This design "consists in a cup shaped shell having a bowl or liquid-receptacle at its lower edge and a filling orifice or passage extending through the shell and leading to the bottom of the liquid-receptacle. A socket or inwardly-projecting tube at the top of the shell encircles the shank of the caster and rests upon a shoulder on said shank, which serves to hold the insect guard in position" (lines 17-25).

Animal Shears.

Patent for new and improved animal shears. This design is "of a platinum or other wire or conductor heated to a high temperature, sufficient to burn through the fibers of the wool or hair, and [is] passed over the surface of the body as close as may be deemed desirable to the roots. No injurious effects are produced upon the animal or upon the wool or hair removed, while at the same time the same may be removed with great uniformity and expedition" (lines 28-36).

Patent for a new and improved nutshell-cutting machine. This design consists in "the ring provided with slots, the apertured plate, the cutters inserted in the slots, the set-screws adapted to hold the cutters in the slots, and the follower . . . arranged to force the nut through between the cutters, and means for supporting the cutters in the position of use" (lines 72-80).

Patent for "a new and useful improvements in Seeding-Machines" (lines 5-6) the light draft interchangeable seeding-machine can be converted from a cotton-planter to a corn-planter, and vice versa. The invention is "compact, simple, and durable" (line 13)

This design consists "[i]n a fruit-squeezer having flat or nearly flat pressing-surfaces, the combination of jaws having lever-handles integral therewith, and face-plates held in transverse dovetail seats in the faces of the respective jaws by means of clamping-screws, and supported therein by central set-screws" (lines 89-95).
