Report issued by the U.S. Bureau of Mines on the sampling of chrome ore deposits in the western United States. Physical properties of the samples collected are presented. This report includes tables.

In August 2002, the Habitat Evaluation Procedure (HEP) was used to determine baseline habitat suitability on the Carey Creek property, an acquisition completed by the Kalispel Tribe of Indians in December 2001. Evaluation species and appropriate models include bald eagle, black-capped chickadee, Canada goose, mallard, yellow warbler, and white-tailed deer. Habitat Suitability Index (HSI) values were visually estimated and agreed upon by all HEP team members. The Carey Creek Project provides a total of 172.95 Habitat Units (HUs) for the species evaluated. Conifer forest habitat provides 4.91 HUs for bald eagle, black-capped chickadee, and white-tailed deer. Forested wetlands provide 52.68 HUs for bald eagle, black-capped chickadee, mallard, and white-tailed deer. Scrub-shrub wetlands provide 2.82 HUs for mallard, yellow warbler and white-tailed deer. Wet meadow and grassland meadow provide 98.13 HUs for mallard and Canada goose. Emergent wetlands provide 11.53 HUs for mallard, muskrat, and Canada goose. Open water provides 2.88 HUs for Canada goose, mallard, and muskrat. The objective of using HEP at the Carey Creek Project and other protected properties is to document the quality and quantity of available habitat for selected wildlife species. This report follows an investigation of a cargo truck found contaminated by various radioactive material on a routine trip from Arco, Idaho to the Hanford plant on May 8, 1952. The report analyzes the truck's route in an attempt to find the location of the contaminating region.

From introduction: This volume contains information and survey results pertaining specifically to the Twin Falls NTMS 1:250,000 scale Quadrangle, Idaho, one of a group of 12 such quadrangles in Arizona, Idaho, Montana, New Mexico, South Dakota, and Washington included in an aerial radiometric and magnetic reconnaissance survey. General information concerning the instrumentation and methods used in data acquisition, processing, and interpretation is presented in Volume 1 of this final report.

The following report covers a reconnaissance for uranium-bearing carbonaceous rocks that was made during the 1952 field season in 23 areas in Colorado, Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming. This report discusses uranium samples discovered withing these locations, however it was determined that none of the deposits discovered have commercial possibilities.

Abstract: Field and laboratory data are presented for 410 water samples and 702 sediment samples from the Preston Quadrangle, Wyoming; Idaho. Uranium values have been reported by Los Alamos National Laboratory in Report GJBX-70(78). The samples were collected by Los Alamos National Laboratory; laboratory analysis and data reporting were performed by the Uranium Resource Evaluation Project at Oak Ridge, Tennessee.

That loss equates to a payroll decrease of $91 8,340. *The loss of 305 indirect jobs (school teachers, clerks, dental assistants, etc.) represents an estimated payroll loss of $6,839,625 (305 x 22,425 which is the per capita income level of Elmore County according to the U S Census 2002) *Approximately 550 living units would be affected, either owned units that would be for sale or rentals that would become vacant. This would undoubtedly result in a downturn in the real estate market for the area *The school district would see a reduction in Impact Aid from DoD based on the specific number of children no longer enrolled here.
