Patent for a compound railroad engine. This design is capable of operating under conditions resulting from an accident, the ability to start under full load via live steam to both the high and low pressure cylinders, and its working parts may be operated with one or both compounds. Patent for a churn. The patent is for a "means for adjustably securing a series of vertically-arranged breakers in a churn-body of any size, operating with a revolving dasher" (lines 8-11).

Patent for "lubricating the bearings of locomotives while moving or standing still." (lines 8-10)

Patent for a "pumping, or water-elevating apparatus," (line 9) including illustrations.

Patent for improvement in plows by first connecting a furrow-shoe to the moldboard, and second, by provide means for operating the plow-point to make a deep or shallow furrow and for raising and lowering covering-plows simultaneously when the plow is in operation. Patent for a new and improved plow. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with a plowshare, of cutting-knives secured to the rear end thereof and extending rearwardly therefrom in an upward direction, and a bar connecting the mold-board and landside and arranged below the cutting knives" (lines 68-73).

Patent for certain new and useful improvements in governors, including instructions and illustrations.

Patent for a baling press. This invention combines a truck and horse that facilitates the pressing of hay.

Patent for a new and improved shovel plow. This design "provide[s] a shovel . . . having extensible wings pivoted to its rear surface, and combined with suitable mechanism by which they may be extended and forced inward . . . second, [it] provide[s] novel means of adjusting the angularity of the shovel and its standard with reference to the beam of the plow; third, [it] provide[s] novel means for adjusting the positions of the outer ends of the handles" (lines 16-26).

Patent for a device that keeps sand from being lost during delivery and "whereby the emitting nozzle is kept clear and prevented from clogging up or freezing" (lines 15-17). It is an improvement on sanding devices.

Patent for pressing device of sewing machine that will be in operative engagement with the needle to enable efficient stitching and embroidery work.

Patent for "car-brakes that work automatically and without manual intervention as soon as the locomotive is stopped." (Lines 12-14) Includes instructions and illustrations.

Patent for "a means for the automatic application of brakes to the cars of a railway-train; and it consists in a loosely-moving draw-bar attached to the car by means of bolts passing through a central longitudinal slot, and having its sides wrought into two rack-bars, which mesh with pinions upon two windlass-shafts; which arrangement, when the locomotive is "slowed," causes the impact of the cars to drive up the draw-bars and wind up cords upon the windlass-shafts, which communicated with and apply the brakes to the wheels." Patent for "an improved mechanism whereby the paper or other material is automatically fed to the press in web or continuous form and automatically cut off in the desired lengths as it passes from the feeding mechanism" (lines 23-26).

Patent for a new and improved cultivator. This design is "first, to provide for use in such implements a sectional axle which shall be capable of being so manipulated as to cause the wheels to be placed at a greater or less distance from each other; second, to provide the necessary mechanism and suitable combinations thereof for moving the parts of the axle and the wheels into their desired positions" (lines 20-27). This enables the cultivator to adapt to different spacings of crops, marking an improvement over previous cultivators.

Patent for "a planter-carriage frame adapted to carry a cotton-seed hopper having novel and peculiar means for feeding the cotton-seed in planting the same, so that the same frams may be employed for both hopper without alteration of either hopper or frame" (lines 11-17).
