This design "compris[es] the main end and intermediate posts anchored in the ground, the longitudinal wires connected to said main end posts and let into said intermediate posts, said end posts being suitably braced and said longitudinal wires being connected together by tie-wires, and the supplemental posts, to which are also bound or secured said longitudinal wires, having the horizontal feet of approximate figure-8 shape resting squarely on the ground or surface" (lines 69-79).

Patent for a new and improved means for propelling railway cars. This design "relates to motive power for railway-cars, and the purpose thereof is to provide a simple combination of parts whereby each car may be impelled by a separate motor, the entire series throughout a line or train of cars being supplied with energy from a common source, whereby the full horse-power of a steam-boiler may be applied in a manner enabling it to be utilized to the greatest possible advantage and to the utmost extent" (lines 10-20).

Patent for a new and improved stovepipe attachment. This design "consists of a receptacle formed in two parts, which are secured together around the stovepipe just below the point where the latter enters the chimney immediately above the stove. The object of [the] invention is to construct an attachment which may be readily secured to or detached from the pipe for the purpose of catching any dirt or soot which may drop from the chimney, thus preventing it from reaching the stove" (lines 14-24).

Patent for a switch in which it can be “automatically operated by a moving train either for the purpose of opening or closing the switch, under the control of the engineer, who without stopping the train may open the switch and run his train onto the switch-rails or a siding without slowing up the train further than is necessary to avoid derailing the train when passing from the main line to the switch or siding.” (Lines 11-20) Illustration is included.

This design is "adapted to be attached to the person of the wearer, consisting of the top or cap piece having the projecting studs or pivots, fixed ribs, fastened rigidly in the back part of the cap, fixed supports bent to form the bulge and adapted to be fastened with their lower ends in a suitable brace or support, and moveable ribs arranged in pairs and pivoted upon the studs or pivots" (lines 73-81).

Patent for an umbrella holder or a similar item "which is adapted to be detachably secured to any suitable support such as the seat post of a riding agricultural implement or the seat of a buggy or wagon." (lines 9-12) including instructions and illustrations.
