Apparatus for the Treatment of Cotton.

Patent for a machine that puts gins and condensers in a line, which sit over a flue. "The lint cotton in bat form being delivered from all of the condensers in independent bats to a common conveyer, the bat cotton increasing in thickness upon the common conveyer and in its travel to a press, compress or other receptacle, receiving the different bats from the different condensers, one bat lying smoothly upon the other, until at the discharge end of the common conveyer, the bat in which the lint is evenly distributed and which is of considerable thickness, will be conveniently discharged" (lines 13-24).

Cotton Sprinkler.

Patent for a new and improved sprinkler. This design consists "[i]n a cotton or other plant sprinkler, the reservoir or tank mounted upon a suitable carriage or truck, and having connected thereto a pump, in combination with the grooved pulley, rigidly secured to the wheel of the carriage or truck, belt or chain, pulley, clutch, and crank, connected by suitable levers or arms to the piston-rod . . . with the pipes, provided with roseheads, of the arm or carrier, formed in sections and connected to a suitable lever for raising or lowering it" (lines 20-33).

Cotton Elevator and Distributer.

Patent for a pneumatic feed device or elevator and distributor for cotton gins. It has a mechanical conveyer that connects "with the blast device, so that a positive force feed is obtained and the cotton is placed evenly over the gins, and wherein further an overflow box is employed and an independent means of feeding the cotton through the medium of the said blast device, either from a vehicle or bin or from the overflow box, thus enabling the gin to be fed even while the connection between the bin or main source of supply is cut off; and wherein also the blower or fan employed in connection with the pneumatic conveying device may likewise be used for forcing the speed delivered from the gin to any desired point" (lines 12-26).

Patent for a book and pencil holder that mounts a pencil or pen and attaches to a book. The combined book and pencil holder uses a clamp so the pen or pencil attached to the book inside a pocket is maintained in a pocket and does not fall out.

Improvement in Cotton-Worm Destroyers.

Patent for "a new machine for removing the destructive cotton-worms from the cotton-plants without injury to the plants, and for destroying the worms," which "consists in the arrangement of a movable frame, which is by animals drawn over the fields to straddle the rows of cotton, and which is provided with brushes for sweeping the worms from the plants, and with jointed bottom pieces or slides, which crush them on the ground." Saddle Pad.

Patent for a new and improved saddle pad. This design "consists of a saddle-pad formed of an upper and lower cover connected by lacing, provided with pockets, and filled intermediately with layers of felt or cloth" (lines 13-16). The saddle pad was designed to increase comfort for the rider while maintaining comfort for the animal.
