Insect Trap.
Patent for a new and improved ant trap. This design calls for a box to be placed over the mouth of an anthill, whereupon one expects the ants to enter a hole, climb an incline, and slip down a pair of glass pieces that lower the ants into an inescapable chamber. This design is cheaper and easier to make than previous ant traps.

Artificial Fruit, Foliage, and Flowers.
Patent for a new and improved method of making artificial fruit. This design "consists in cutting out a piece of lace or netting of the desired shape, forming the lace or netting into a bag, stuffing the bag with cotton or wool . . . picking the cotton or wool up through the meshes of the lace or netting, cutting narrow strips of tissue-paper, and applying them in layers until a covering similar to pasteboard is formed, drying the article, painting the article, sinking the article in a bath of wax heated to a point beneath boiling . . . letting it drain off, and finally applying a paint finish" (lines 34-47).

Patent for a new and improved cabinet. This design consists in "the combination, with a hinged door or lid, of [a] . . . separate bail" (lines 99-100). Further, said bail is "pivotally secured at its upper ends to the cabinet, and adapted to support on its middle portion the free end of the said door when the latter is in its horizontal position . . . [and it consists in] a suitable frame, the drawers having compartments on either side thereof, in combination with the hinged pie-board having the opening . . . which when raised closes said compartments" (lines 1-10).

Patent for a new and improved cabinet. This design "consists in a commercial postage-stamp holding, preserving, and denomination-indicating book, the same having its blank leaves formed of paper so prepared that postage-stamps will not adhere to them, and some of said leaves being provided at intervals with exposed tabs which have numerical indices marked upon them and serve for indicating the denomination of the stamps placed between the leaves at different parts of the book. Gate Latch.
Patent for a new and improved gate latch. This design "will automatically lock the gate or door when swung closed and which will firmly hold the same, which can be readily opened by hand or otherwise" (lines 17-20). It consists in "[t]he latch consisting of the case, the two triangular catches, the transverse pivots therefor in the lower outer corners of the case, the rigid stops at the lower outer corners of the case to prevent outward swing of said catches, the inwardly and laterally extending arms at the upper inner end of said catches, and the horizontal lifting-bar normally resting on said pivots" (lines 24-32).

Grain Conveyer for Binders, &c.
Patent for a new and improved grain conveyer for binders. This design "relates to that class of grain-conveyers for binders and harvesters, &c., in which arms unfold when started from the outer end of its travel on its forward movement and in that position shift the grain in front of it, and thus shift the grain off the inner end of the platform and deliver such grain to suitable compressors . . . and such arms fold back at the beginning of its rearward movement and pass back underneath the grain on the platform" (lines 12-23).

Patent for a new and improved nut-lock. This design is "to provide a stirrup of simple and inexpensive construction, to form the buckle for attaching the side straps integral with the hanger in such position that the stirrup will hang at right angles to the saddle-skirts, and, further, to hinge or pivot the foot-rest at one end to the hanger and supported at its opposite end by means of a spring-controlled catch that automatically releases the foot-rest by means of a lever and prevents the rider's foot from hanging in the stirrup and the rider being dragged should he [or she] be thrown from [the] horse" (lines 17-29).

Sweep Plow.
Patent for a new and improved sweep-plow. This design is "to provide a sweep-plow especially adapted for the cultivation of cotton and to so construct the same that the blades or wings thereof may be adjusted for the purpose of plowing between rows of various widths" (lines 8-13). It consists, "with the sweep curved in cross-section to form the central shovel-receiving seat, which is slotted opposite the rearwardly-disposed triangular sides or flanges, which latter are perforated near their lower ends and provided with their upper ends with curved slots, with which the perforations are concentric" (lines 55-62).
