Patent for a new and improved feeder for cotton gins. This design consists in "the combination, with the driving mechanism, of the alternating sections, the shaft or rod, loop-rods and staples, the crank-shaft, and hooked rods . . . [and] of the adjustable comb, the crank-shaft, hinge-connection, arm, and cross-bar" (lines 3-12).

Patent for a cotton cultivator and chopper, with illustrations. The "invention pertains to that class of machines which are designed and employed for thinning out and cultivating rows of cotton plants" (lines 15-18).

Patent for a new and improved combination blacking brush and blacking box holder. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with a blacking brush, of a swinging frame held on the back of the brush, and of devices for holding a blacking-box loosely, so as to be adapted to be rotated in the said swinging frame" (lines 82-86).

Patent for a new and improved boot and shoe display. This design "is to provide an indicator for the use of retail dealers in boots and shoes, or other merchandise and wares, by which apparatus the stock can be kept with great accuracy and facility. To that end . . . an indicating-plate with slides [is included], which is to be attached upon the boxes, shelves, drawers, or other receptacles for the goods, as an indicator for showing what goods are contained in the receptacle" (lines 8-17).

Patent for a new and improved coupling for railroad cars. This design "comprises a draw-head slotted from top to bottom, and having at its forward end an incline, a peculiar latch to engage automatically with the slot in the draw-head, a pivoted weight for holding the latch in position, and a lever pivoted in the draw-head and operated from the outside for throwing up the latch and uncoupling the car" (lines 15-22).

Patent for a new and improved buckle. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with [a] frame, having [a] hook on [a] cross-piece and [a] tongue on [another] cross-piece, of a loop or keeper, arranged on the under side of frame and between the two cross-pieces" (lines 69-73).

Patent for a new and improved coupling for railroad cars. This design "relates to car-couplings of that class which effect an automatic coupling by means of a gravity hook; and it consists in certain improvements in the construction and operation of the same" (lines 9-13).

Patent for a new and improved combined hollow auger attachment and felly-boring machine. This design "relates to an improved felly-boring machine which is adapted with slight adjustment to co-operate with a hollow auger for forming the tenons on the spokes. [The] invention consists in the construction of the frame, the clamp for securing it to the spokes or felly-supports, and in the means for holding and adjusting the auger" (lines 14-21).

Patent for a new and improved stump puller. This design's object "is to provide a simple, cheap, and effective stump-puller, readily portable and easily operated by one man and a horse; and to that end the novelty consists in the construction of the same" (lines 10-15).

Patent for an anti-inflammatory compound intended for use on both humans and animals.

Patent for a new and improved animal stalls in stock cars. This design "has for its object to provide these stalls in such a manner that they can be readily and cheaply applied to and removed from the cars; and it also has for its further object to provide for rendering the stall-partitions laterally yielding or elastic, and yet under such a degree of tension as to withstand or resist the movements of the animals" (lines 11-18).

Patent for a new and improved wind engine. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with a suitable frame, of the shaft, having wind wheel or drum, provided with rods having wings and arms or cranks, and laterally projecting brackets, having bell-crank levers, loaded at their lower ends, the connecting rods, sleeve[s], washer, spring, and . . . having pivoted rods connecting said sleeves with the arms" (lines 94-102).

Patent for a new and improved shepherd's crook. This design "has relation to shepherd's crooks; and it consists in the construction and novel arrangement of the tapering and balanced staff, the slender neck near the head or crook, the broad bearings of the crook, and the guard-knob on the end thereof" (lines 16-21).

Patent for a new and improved combination lock. This design's operation "is as follows: Being unlocked, the bolt is in the retracted position . . . [t]he door can then be operated in the usual manner, being held, when closed, by the ordinary spring-bolt. . . . When the door is closed, in order to lock it, the graduated knob is turned, operating the toothed disk and the first or governing ring, which will . . . throw out the end of the locking-bolt. By turning the handle, all the rings of the slotted guide can be moved sufficiently to engage the teeth of the locking-arm of the bolt" (lines 80-94).

Patent for a new and improved combination lock. This design "consists in the construction and novel arrangement of the elongated case, its longitudinally slotted and notched partitions, the boltway over the partitions, reciprocating notched and perforated slides, and adjustable pins or studs engaging the perforations and projecting into the slots of the partitions, the rack-slide, drop-bolt, and graduated knob carrying the pinion" (lines 20-28).
