Geological Survey on behalf of the Division of Raw Materials of the U. S. Atomic Energy Commission. Structures shown on the map have been obtained from published geologic maps and from unpublished data supplied by Government agencies, private companies, and independent geologists. The tectonic map of Wyoming east of the overthrust belt is only a progress report; any suggestions for corrections or additions will be appreciated.

From abstract: This report describes a method to estimate infiltration rates of soils for use in estimating runoff from small basins.

From introduction: This report relates to the first of the above objectives by describing stream quality in the Yampa River basin through 1976, with particular emphasis on conditions from August 1975 through September 1976. The content of this report is, at times, relatively technical. This is intentional. The report is aimed not at planners and decision makers but rather at those persons assigned the task of having to design, implement, and interpret a river basin assessment. The techniques and procedures used to determine ambient stream quality in the Yampa River basin have been presented in detail so that their applicability to other river basins can be determined. For the planner and decision maker, the results presented in this report are summarized in less technical terms in phase-l (Steele and others, 1979) and phase-ll summary reports.

From purpose and scope: The study on which this report is based began during 1975 in cooperation with the U.S. Bureau of Land Management as part of their Energy Mineral Rehabilitation Inventory and Analysis program. The study was directed toward determining hydrologic processes and their relation to other aspects of the environment in the Salt Wells Creek basin, and how this knowledge might be used in planning for the strip mining of coal.

From introduction: This report describes work done in the Rawlins, Wyoming, National Topographic Map Series (NTMS) quadrangle (US Geological Survey, 1968) by the Los Alamos Scientific Laboratory (LASL) as part of the nationwide Hydrogeochemical and Stream Sediment Reconnaissance (HSSR).

From Introduction: "The Sheridan NTMS 1º by 2º Quadrangle (Fig. 1) in north-central Wyoming was evaluated to identify geologic environments that have characteristics favorable for uranium deposition. Only environments to a depth of 1500 m have been evaluated for this project."

Abstract: "This report, designed to make available to field geologists and others information on identification and occurrence of uranium minerals of the Colorado Plateaus, contains physical properties, X-ray data, and in some instances results of chemical and spectrographic analysis of 24 uranium and 17 vanadium minerals. Also included is a table giving the optical properties of uranium minerals and a list of locations of mines from which the minerals have been identified."

Preliminary report discussing uranium that was found in the basal limestone of the Sundance formation of late Jurassic age on the east flank of the Bighorn Mountains in Johnson County, Wyoming. The report provides information regarding geographic setting, geologic setting, stratigraphy, uranium occurrence localities, and origin of uranium in the Mayoworth area.

Report discussing a geological examination that took place in August 1950. During this examination, an area about 6 miles north of Sundance in the Bear Lodge Mountains of Crook County, Wyoming, was examined for thorium, uranium, and rare-earth oxides and samples were collected.
