A pulsed thermoelectric generator which is heated by fissioning of /sup 235/U when exposed to a pulse of neutron irradiation is discussed. The open circuit voltage response of the device is determined using the CINDA numerical differencing analyzer computer code. Methods were developed for generating an integrated, statistical model of the anatomical structures within the human thorax relevant to radioisotope powered artificial heart implantation. These methods involve measurement and analysis of anatomy in four areas: chest wall, pericardium, vascular connections, and great vessels. A model for the prediction of thorax outline from radiograms was finalized. These models were combined with 100 radiograms to arrive at a size distribution representing the adult male and female populations. (CH)

Measurements made to determine the chemical durability of glasses for disposal of radioactive waste are discussed. The term glass covers materials varying from true glass with only minute quantities of crystallites, such as insoluble RuO$sub 2$, to quasi glass-ceramics which are mostly crystalline. The results of the analysis of {approx} 1000 {nu} events of the type {nu} + N {yields} {mu}{sup -} + hadrons from the NAL dichromatic beam are presented. Distributions in terms of the scaling variables x = Q{sup 2}/2o{nu} and y = {sup E}n/E{sub {nu}} are presented. The x distribution is compared with F{sub 2}{sup ed} (x) from SLAC; the Q{sup 2} distribution is tested for the presence of the propagator term F{sub 2}(x) {yields} F{sub 2}(x)/(1 + Q{sup 2}/2){sup 2}; and the y distributions are fit to the form d{sigma}{sup {nu}N}/dy = 1 + a(1-y){sup 2}. A smaller amount of {bar {nu}} data will also be presented.
