This design "is to provide the chute with a pivoted latch or other like device that will securely hold the door closed, the device operating automatically in locking the door closed. Patent for a new and improved coffee roaster. This design calls for "a revolving cylinder; and the invention consists of a cylinder provided with a hollow trunnion, and of a semi-tubular tester introduced through said trunnion into the cylinder, which tester serves as a handle for revolving the cylinder, and can be withdrawn from time to time with samples of coffee to enable the operator to judge of the progress of the roasting process" (lines 11-19).

Wagon-Brake.

Patent for an improvement in a wagon-brake using an operating-lever that is mounted in a bracket near the front axle, and consist of diverging arms; and a segmental rack-plate with teeth that is arranged to be engaged by a sliding pawl. When the operating-lever and the sliding pawl are connected; when the brake-bars are in motion, clamping the wheels of a vehicle thus making it stop.
