From Introduction: "Figure 1 shows the location of sources that have been either exploited or seriously considered at one time or another, super-imposed upon a map indicating by small letters the order of consumption of K2O in the leading States; the amount used in these States, together with the percentage of the total consumption of potash used as fertilizer in the United States in 1939, is given in table 1. Figure 2 shows the domestic production and total consumption of potassium salts, in terms of tons of K2O, with the value per unit at the plants, for each year since 1913. Considered together, these two figures tell a significant story."

Oil Press Mat.
Patent for a new and improved oil press mat. This design "relates to mats between which cakes of ground cotton or other oil-yielding seed are held while being subjected to the action of the press which separates the oil from the cakes. Patent for simple and efficient oil-distributor that is meant to calm the water next to a ship. It also takes up little space and can easily be launched over the side of the ship and is insured so that oil is automatically distributed into the water.

Gravity Oil-Distributer for Ships.
Patent for a gravity oil-distributors for ships at sea that calms the water during storms. "the objects of [the] invention are to produce a very simple, cheap and buoyant boat or float, that may be compactly stored upon deck, conveniently launched over the side of the vessel, and so manipulated therefrom as to keep a proper and desired relative position in connection therewith, and which will automatically feed oil to the water" (lines 11-18).

Process and Apparatus for Separation of Ores by Flotation.
Patent for a improved process and apparatus use commercially to separate ores using flotation. By "introducing a novel step in the flotation process which results in the complete breaking down of the froth and at the same time keeping the volume of water used within the smallest practical limits thus preventing the washing away of valuable concentrates by an unnecessarily large volume of water" (lines 54-60).
