Reconnaissance for Radioactive Minerals in Washington, Idaho, and Western Montana, 1952-1955

From abstract: Approximately fifty radioactive deposits and nearly fifty properties not abnormally radioactive were examined during a geologic reconnaissance for radioactive minerals in Idaho, Washington, and western Montana during the period July 1952 -- June 1955. The most important uranium deposits are in or near granitic to quartz monzonitic intrusions of probable Cretaceous age in central and northern Idaho, westernmost Montana, and northeastern Washington.

[Mount Spokane Sediment Plots]

Charts presenting the results of ground water and stream sediment reconnaissance in the Mount Spokane quadrangle in eastern Washington and northwestern Idaho. Stream sediment samples were taken at 225 sites. Data from sediment sites include water chemistry measurements from sites where water was available (pH, conductivity, and alkalinity), and elemental analyses for sediment samples (U, Th, Hf, Al, Ce, Dy, Eu, Fe, La, Lu, Mn, Na, Sc, Sm, Ti, V, and Yb). Sample site descriptors (stream characteristics, vegetation, etc.) are also tabulated. Areal distribution maps, histograms, and cumulative frequency plots for the above elements, log U/Th, log U/Hf, log U/(Th + Hf), and scintillometer readings at sediment sample sites are included.

[Key Field and Analytical Data for Mt. Spokane 15 Minute Quadrangle Samples]

Tabulated data presenting the results of field measurements and elemental analyses for ground and surface water samples collected from the Mount Spokane quadrangle in eastern Washington and northwestern Idaho. Data from ground water sites includes water chemistry measurements (pH, conductivity, and alkalinity), physical measurements, where applicable (water temperature, well description, and scintillometer reading), and elemental analyses (U, Al, Br, Cl, Dy, F, Mg, Mn, Na, and V). Helium analyses are given for ground water. Data from surface water sites include water quality measurements (pH, conductivity, and alkalinity) and elemental analyses (U, Al, Br, Cl, Dy, F, Mg, Mn, Na, and V). (see pages 6-9 of report).

[Uranium Resource Evaluation Program Reports at the Savannah River Laboratory: Western Sediment Data]

Code and output of statistical analysis system (SAS) that produces the tape of western sediment data, which is sent to the Grand Junction Office Information System at Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Job control programs (JCL) used in this data report drive the statistical analysis system (SAS) and FORTRAN programs to produce the modified Candian symbol plot maps, frequency plots, and histograms for ground waters all on one microfiche. "The [job control program] JCL calls programs which read, scrub where necessary, and format up to six data sets which might comprise the tabular output for a single quadrangle." - from page 9 of report
