From objectives: In the Salton Sea Quadrangle, reported uranium occurrences were evaluated, and geologic environments thought to be favorable were examined. This report includes the field data collected during that work and a summary of the quadrangle geology and uranium favorability. This is the final report to be prepared on this quadrangle under the NURE program.

From abstract "As part of the Department of Energy (DoE) National Uranium Resource Evaluation Program, LKB Resources, Inc. has performed a rotary-wing reconnaissance high sensitivity radiometric and magnetic survey, encompassing several 1:250,000 quadrangles in southwestern Arizona and southeastern California. The surveyed area consisted of approximately 9300 line miles. The radiometric data was corrected and normalized to 400 feet terrain clearance. The data was identified as to rock type by correlating the data samples with existing geologic maps. Statistics defining the mean and standard deviation of each rock type are presented as listings in Volume I of this report. The departure of the data from its corresponding mean rock type is computed in terms of standard deviation units and is presented graphically as anomaly maps in Volume II and as computer listings in microfiche form in Volume I."

From purpose and scope: The purpose of this project was to determine the uranium favorability of Mesozoic intrusive rocks and Tertiary volcanic and sedimentary rocks in the central Mojave Desert. The project was conducted by Bendix Field Engineering Corporation (BFEC) under the auspices of the Grand Junction Office of the U.S. Energy Research and Development Administration (ERDA). The scope of the project included determination of the uranium content of different rock types, determination of the nature and extent of rock characteristics favorable for the formation of uranium deposits, and examination of known uranium deposits.

From operational program: This final report includes a general geologic description of the area, including descriptions of the various geologic units and correlates the airborne data to the geologic units as provided by the geologic maps. Also included is a frequency distribution study of the data as a function of the geologic units encountered over the NTMS area including the tie line data. This report also consists of a discussion of the area surveyed and includes all single record reduced data and averaged record data listings on microfiche.

From abstract: This data report presents results of ground water and stream sediment reconnaissance in the National Topographic Map Series (NTMS) Death Valley 1 x 2 quadrangle.

From introduction: The objective of this survey is to develop a geochemical data base for use by the private sector to locate regions of anomalous uranium content. Prior to wide area coverage, several pilot studies are being undertaken to develop and evaluate sampling and analytical techniques. The first of these studies was conducted in the Walker River Basin.

From abstract: This abbreviated data report presents results of ground water and surface sediment reconnaissance in the National Topographic Map Series (NTMS) Salton Sea 10 x 2 quadrangle. Surface sediment samples were collected at 997 sites. Ground water samples were collected at 76 sites. Neutron activation analysis (NAA) results are given for uranium and 16 other elements in sediments, and for uranium and 9 other elements in ground water. Mass spectrometry results are given for helium in ground water. Field measurements and observations are reported for each site. Analytical data and field measurements are presented in tables and maps.

Introduction: The geologic map of the Mariposa quadrangle, which was used as a basis for the interpretation, was supplied by Bendix Field Engineering Corporation. The Formation descriptions in Appendix C are derived from this map supplemented with information from California Division of Mines and Geology (1967).
