Patent for "an improved freight car door so supported that it will not be shaken or jarred off and can be easily opened and closed at all times no matter how heavily loaded the car may be." (Lines 16-20) Includes instructions and illustrations.

Patent for a garbage-furnace that relates to a patent that was previously granted to the inventor (No. 448,115). This invention provides "a new and improved garbage furnace, which is comparatively simple and durable in construction, and very effective for burning all kinds of dry and wet garbage, kitchen refuse, animal matter, excrements, &c. (lines 12-16).

Patent for a an inexpensive and durable jetty made from "piles driven in the ground in the ordinary way, but incase them in such a way that they will not be liable to early decay or infested by insects, which cut and destroy them when not protected" (lines 11-15).

Patent for a safety-guard for cars that use a flexible netting in front of the car and has a double frame for support. It folds compactly when not in use.

Patent for an artificial leg that has an improved ankle joint and a socket for the stump. It is also more comfortable than other artificial legs.

Patent for a metallic roof that has "an improved means for securing the adjoining edges of the metallic strips together, whereby a tight water proof joint is produced and the metal strips securely attached to the sheathing of the roof" (lines 15-20).

Patent for whiffletree-hook that provides "a novel device of this character in which it is impossible for the trace ring or link to become accidentally detached, but which may be readily removed or disengaged from the hook when desired" (lines 15-20). The invention has a flattened circular plate.

Patent for a car wheel and axle made up of a built-up metallic wheel with dished side-plates that have flanged and riveted rims, hub-nuts, a lock-plate, hollow screw-threaded ends, hexagonal offsets, tubular journals, a tubular journal, and a radial lubricating feed-tube with a cross-head and a collar.

Patent for an improved fire-kindling cartridge which "consists, essentially, in a cartridge made in two sections, each composed of coiled wire, with their outer end tapering or contracted, forming a conical point, a sleeve of coiled wire with which the inner ends of said sections engage, and a filling of asbestos or other material." Patent for a boiler-cleaning compound made up of "an improved compound having sodium hydrate for a base, and having certain subordinate ingredients whereby its efficiency is increased, and whereby the action of the sodium hydrate is so modified that no detriment to the boiler iron will result" (lines 10-16).

Patent for a well-drilling apparatus meant "to provide improved means for adjusting and withdrawing drill-tools without removing the drill-rod to provide a folding reamer and means for adjusting the blades thereof, and to provide means for conveying water to the drill, whereby the drillings are carried up outside of the drill-rod or barrel" (lines 9-16).

Patent for a simple and efficient electric alarm to be used for vault protection. It is a magnet, which is a better design than a coil. The magnet is suspended between two points, and a spring that pushes it in one direction. There is an armature that causes friction when it slides, and sounds an alarm when the arm moves in one direction.

Patent for a simple, inexpensive, and durable garbage-furnace that can be easily operated, the moisture from the garbage completely evaporates, and the material before and after can be easily handled.

Patent for a simple, strong, and economic lattice that is meant for use in jail cells. It allows air and light into the cell, and they are formed with "alternately opposite depressions and elevations for the reception of the bars running at right angles thereto" (lines 12-24). It should have alternating bars of steel and iron.

Patent for a dry-kiln furnace meant to improve the "heating and hot-air circulating devices for such structures, whereby all or nearly all the heat generated is utilized, thereby effecting an economy in the use of fuel and also increasing the capacity of the kiln" (lines 15-19).

Patent for a mail-bag meant to "provide such bags or pouches with a secure, efficient, and durable fastening for the mouth which can be easily and quickly opened and closed" (lines 13-16).

Patent for an electric switch meant for the Edison three-wire system. It provides "means whereby the translating devices on either side of the middle wire may be supplied with electricity to the exclusion of those on the opposite side, the return-current from said translating devices being transmitted by way of the middle wire" (lines 11-16).

Patent for a cotton-cleaning apparatus made up of "a stationary foraminous case or drum having an inlet-opening in the upper side of its small end, a rotary shaft extending centrally through the case or drum and having a plurality of spirally-arranged at the large end of the foraminous case and having a discharge-pipe for conveying the cotton to the point where it is to be deposited or discharged - as, for instance, into gins or gin-feeders" (lines 9-19). The cotton goes in one end, the cotton is elevated, beater-arms move the cotton along, and fans drive the cotton to the gins.

Patent for an "apparatus adapted for continuously compressing and baling cotton in juxtaposition to the ginning machinery, by conducting cotton from the condenser to compressing rolls operating to progressively compress the fluffy mass into a compact bat or sheet which is laid in folds or laps and subsequently moved or transferred to a suitable baling press and subjected to final pressure to expel the air from between the folds or laps and enable the bale or package to be tied while under pressure." Patent for a method of and apparatus for protecting electric circuits from unauthorized use. The inventor uses the arrangement of circuits described in an expired patent (No. 110,362).

Patent for girth-rigging for side-saddles that secure the saddles so the saddles only move when the horse does. It has an extended "saddle-tree so as to produce shoulders, the same underlying the saddle-seat at its front and in supporting upon its shoulders and also upon the tree in rear of the cantle-girth suspension-straps that are continuous" (lines 24-29).

Patent for a riding-saddle with a "short rigid tree, which constitutes the front or forked portion of the saddle, and [the inventor] construct[s] the body and cantle of pieces of thick but duly flexible leather" (lines 21-25). This makes the saddle more comfortable for both horse and rider.

Patent for a dilator meant to enlarge the urethral and other canals of the human body. It is meant of "elastic material and capable of distention, or dilation, under the pressure of air, water, or other fluid introduced and to combine with said dilator means whereby its uniform enlargement under internal pressure shall take place without increase of length, thereby avoiding the objection common to all, rubber and similar structures heretofore, that interior pressure produced elongation at the expense of increase in diameter, while any inequality of strength, or thickness, caused unequal expansion" (lines 13-24).

Patent for a propeller-wheel for steam and other vessels. This invention is meant "to provide a propeller by which a maximum speed may be obtained without a proportionate increase in toe motive power employed" (lines 15-18). It doesn't have a lateral resistance of water and does not diffuse water in all directions.
