Bed Bottom Spring.

Patent for new and improved bed springs. Due to this design's construction, "in addition to the support furnished by the top spirals, the platform furnishes a broad level bearing for the mattress and prevents sagging between the springs or injury to the mattress itself. Also, the parallels, being springs in themselves, additional comfort and elasticity are added to the bed, and the springs themselves are more readily adapted to the varying width of the slats of different beds" (lines 25-34).

This design "ha[s] a curved bottom and rounded ends and consisting of the bottom, the sides, the partitions . . . similar to the sides and arranged adjacent to the latter" (lines 101-104). Said partitions "[form] water compartments, the transverse partition providing a communication between the water compartments and being formed by a plate bent longitudinally at an angle and having its apex extending across the body of the churn, and the dasher arranged above the partition and suitably secured in place" (lines 1-8).

Patent for new and improved animal shears. This design is "to secure an equal wear of the teeth of the stationary and the revolving cutter-plates . . . whereby the instrument may be run double the usual time before it is necessary to grind the plates, and enabling the tool to be used as a right or a left hand cutter; also, to render the cutters separable without arresting the motion of the rotary blade . . . also, to provide means whereby the rotation of the cutter may be reversed . . . finally, to provide a simple device for throwing the miter-gears into and out of mesh" (lines 15-29).
