Patent for improvement of plows; and it consists of a combination of two plows, which are attached to separate beams of their own, and which run upon opposite side of the growing plants for the purpose of cutting away weeds and dirt from around them, with two culitivators or shovels, which run immediately in the rear of said plows, and which clutivators are attached to beams of their own and serve to throw the dirt back toward the plants, as will be more fully described hereinafter.

Caisson-Driver.
Patent for an improved machine that sinks caissons into gravel or mud in order to make a foundation for breakwater, jetty, bridge, or similar purpose. It applies continuous and heavy pressure to the caisson during operation, and "is provided with a jet apparatus to force the sand and mud from within the caisson and cause it to settle around the outer portion of the same, thus holding it firmly in place, and which in general enables a caisson foundation to be laid with great facility and in a substantial manner" (lines 20-26).

Car-Coupling.
Patent for a vertical hook car coupling that also couple air-brakes. In the invention "the drawheads are provided with interlocking tongues to prevent the disconnection of the drawheads by vertical movement; the interlocking faces of the drawheads are provided with sockets to receive a plug for completing the air passage for the train pipes; the drawheads are provided with means for receiving the ordinary hose-coupling on cars not provided with [the] drawhead, and finally other features of [the] invention are the means for securing the drawhead to the car and for uncoupling" (lines 14-25).
