From abstract: Geologic settings are recognized in central and eastern Montana and in a few places in southwestern Montana that elsewhere are similar to the settings for the occurrence of uranium deposits. Several specific areas in Montana seem favorable for the occurrence of uranium.

From abstract: A reconnaissance to determine the uranium content of granitic rocks in the western states was made during parts of October and November 1951. The paucity of our knowledge of the granitic rocks that are most likely to contain significant quantities of uranium has prevented all but a very general isolation of areas or types of granitic rocks for reconnaissance examination.

Abstract: A low-level airborne radioactivity survey of parts of Beaverhead and Madison Counties in southwestern Montana was undertaken from June 6 to October 14, 1955. Flying centered around the Ruby Range-Sweetwater Basin area and concentrated on the Precambrian metamorphic complex and Tertiary lake-bed sediments. No commercial uranium deposits were discovered, and no extensions were found of the few known small occurrences. Five areas of high background detected through the survey were investigated on the ground.

Introduction: During the year 1952-1953, research on the Boulder batholith program was largely devoted to basic mineralogy studies of the "siliceous reef" and, to the extent possible at that time, the "base metal" deposits.

The purpose of this report is to present the results of a condition survey performed at Malmstrom Air Force Base (MAFB), Montana, during 24-27 April 1972. Abstract: The Free Enterprise property is located in the Boulder mining district, Jefferson County, Montana. Secondary uranium minerals occur here in small irregular concentrations in and adjacent to a narrow silicified fracture zone in quartz monzonite.

From Introduction: "The Sheridan NTMS 1º by 2º Quadrangle (Fig. 1) in north-central Wyoming was evaluated to identify geologic environments that have characteristics favorable for uranium deposition. Only environments to a depth of 1500 m have been evaluated for this project."

From purpose and scope: The purpose of this report is to present biological data and to compare the physical, chemical, and biological data to water-quality criteria that are desirable for the proposed reservoir uses.

This report contains data from a survey taken between August 11 and August 27, 1978 on the high sensitivity airborne gamma-ray spectrometer and magnetometer over the Ashton quadrangle in Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.

From purpose and scope: The purpose of this report is to summarize and evaluate fluvial-sediment data collected in the study area by the U.S. Geological Survey. The principal products of this report are sediment concentration and load statistics, sediment-transport curves, calculated mean annual sediment yields at selected stations, and an areal sediment-yield map. A secondary purpose is to describe sediment relationships between stations and basins and to identify environmental factors that are important in determining sediment yield.

From introduction: The purpose of this report is to describe the channel-geometry technique and to present equations for estimating mean annual runoff and peak flows for ungaged streams in southeastern Montana.

From abstract: All geologic conditions in the Dillon Quadrangle (Montana and Idaho) have been thoroughly examined, and, using National Uranium Resource Evaluation criteria, environments are favorable for uranium deposits along fractured zones of Precambrian Y metasediments, in the McGowan Creek Formation, and in some Tertiary sedimentary basins.
