This document contains maps of Tybee Island, Georgia to Cape Fear, North Carolina studying their cooperative shoreline movement.

From purpose and scope: The purpose of this study are to derive base flow estimates for representative parts of the Cretaceous and Tertiary clastic outcrop area as an aid in estimating recharge to the sand aquifers; to use base flow relations to estimate aquifer hydraulic parameters; and to relate the lithology of the aquifer to the streamflow duration curves.

Abstract: The U.S. Geological Survey maintains a quality-assurance program based on the analysis of reference samples for its two water-analysis laboratories located in Atlanta, Georgia, and Denver, Colorado. Reference samples containing inorganic constituents are prepared at the U.S. Geological Survey's Ocala, Florida office and disguised as routine samples, and sent daily to each laboratory through other U.S. Geological Survey offices. The results are permanently stored in the National Water Data Storage and Retrieval System (WATSTORE), the U.S. Geological Survey's data base for all water data. These data are analyzed statistically for precision and bias. The results of these statistical analyses are presented for data collected during the 1981 calendar year. In addition, one sample containing known concentrations chlorophyll a were analyzed in both laboratories, and these results also are presented.

From introduction: The purpose of this study was to determine the distance the tide-driven saline water from the ocean traveled upstream and to define the specific-conductance and chloronity gradients in the lower reaches of the Altamaha, Satilla, and St. Marys Rivers during the high spring tide and low-flow event.

From abstract: A knowledge of the magnitude and frequency of floods is needed for the design of highway drainage structures, for establishing flood insurance rates, and for many other uses by urban planners and engineers. This report presents a method for estimating the magnitude and frequency of floods on small streams in the Atlanta, Georgia, metropolitan area.

From introduction: This report reviews descriptive background information of the Kings Bay area and presents data on currents, salinity, temperature, turbidity, suspended sediment, phytoplankton, and on the chemical and physical characteristics of bottom sediments. Water, salt, and suspended-sediment discharges are computed for consecutive ebbtides and floodtides that occurred during the November investigation.

From introduction: This review represents a consolidation of larval information not heretofore available in English. It utilizes modern nomenclature and keys the larvae of nine genera of the three above mentioned tribes (Protanypus, Boreoheptagyia and Diamesa).

From purpose and scope: This report examines and discusses the severity, areal extent, and duration of the 1980-81 drought in Georgia. This drought produced the lowest rates of streamflow since 1954 in most areas of the State and the lowest since 1925 in some areas.
