This design "consists in constructing a coffee and spice mill with a hopper having arms for attaching the mill to a wall and for supporting the gear-wheel formed upon it, an inner cone-burr formed solid with the hopper, an outer shell-burr suspended from and swiveled to the inner burr by a cross-bar, rod, and hand-nut, and the gear-wheels and crank for rotating the outer-burr" (lines 22-30).

This design "relates to improvements in rotary churns; and it consists in the combination of the dasher-staff made screw-threaded at its upper end, and having a dasher secured to its lower one; a pinion which is applied to the screw-threaded part of the shaft, and which has a rising and falling movement thereon; the driving-wheel which operates the two pinions, and through them the two dashers, and the sleeve, which is connected to the lower pinion and one of the dashers" (lines 13-23).

This design "consist[s] of a single piece of wire bent in spiral form, said bustle being larger in diameter at its center than at its ends, and eyes or loops formed in said ends, in combination with a spiral spring located within said bustle, the ends of said spring being formed with eyes or loops, and cords or tapes secured to the eyes of the bustle and spring" (lines 52-59).

Patent for a new and improved combined cotton seed and corn planter. This design is especially "for seeding cotton; but the machine is converted into a corn-planter by detaching the bottom of the hopper, removing the space-block, disconnecting the pitman, and then removing the slide, and substituting in lieu thereof a device composed of a bottom, having a seed-opening, and a bridge-form metallic striker, arranged across the same, and a dropper-slide, having dropper holes" (lines 95-2).

Patent for a new and improved switch stand for dynamo stations. This design "is to provide a simple and efficient switch for introducing dynamos into an electric circuit and removing them therefrom . . . [The] invention consists in . . . outside circuit-wires . . . switch contacts arranged in pairs, there being as many pairs of such contacts as there are dynamos belonging to the circuit. It also consists[,] . . . with the pairs of contacts, of corresponding pairs of swinging arms, the arms of each pair being insulated from each other and adapted to engage the contacts of the outside circuit" (lines 14-27).

Patent for a new and improved coupling for thills. This design consists in "[t]he combination, with the clip having the ears provided with the openings of the draft-iron having the eye at its inner end adapted to be inserted between the ears of the clip and having the transverse central opening" (lines 94-98). Further, it has "the coupling-bolt having the inclined shoulder and the nut provided with the [other] inclined shoulder and the sleeves having the inclined inner ends adapted to enter the inclines of the draft-iron and provided at their outer ends with the inclined recesses" (lines 1-7).

This design is "for utilizing a part of the magnetic field of the electro-magnet to act as a retarding medium or a brake to the carbon-holder, which consists of a system of gear-wheels provided with a ratchet and pawl . . . actuated from rack-teeth cut in the side of the upper-carbon rod, on the last spindle of which is adjustably secured a disk of soft iron or other magnetic material, so located as to be within the influence of the magnetic field of one end of the electro-magnet" (lines 36-47).

This design consists "[i]n a combined ventilator and smoke-flue, a series of pipes or flues having a sectional inclosing casing extending from the ceiling of a room and adapted to receive a stove-pipe, the lower drum or casing being provided with a series of openings, and having an annular flange, the top casing being located without the building, having its lower end within the space between the roof and ceiling, and braces, said upper casing having a downwardly-extending flange at its lower end" (lines 18-28).
