This design "consist[s] of the frame, raised axle, and arch, having at one end the bearing, the transverse shaft carrying the bevel-gear, and journaled in said bearing, and the vertical arm, the said shaft also carrying a sprocket-wheel, which is connected to a similar wheel upon the axle by means of the endless chain, the cutter-shaft, journaled at opposite ends in the arms . . . and the removable cutter" (lines 68-77).
