Abstract: "The cross section for the production of 2.61-Mev gamma rays from the Pb-208(n, n')Pb-208* reaction has been measured for five different angles from 50 to 130 degrees. The angular distribution appears to be isotropic within the precision of the experiments, and leads to an integrated cross section of 25.5 +/- 4.6 millibarns."

The following document describes the usage and purpose of the neutron diffusion theory reactor program 9-Zoom, a memory-contained program that takes advantage of 709 features such as, for example, preferential order of multiply by zero, and for small problems approaches input-output limitations with excellent convergence properties.

Introduction: "The problem of determining the properties and necessary controls on the TBP Plant waste disposal to eliminate transport line plugging and to permit higher concentration prior to return of this to the tank farms was studied. A report of preliminary findings was made to L. W. Finsh on January 31, 1953. This report compiles information in the aforementioned report and findings since its issuance. The following report records measurements and evaluations of fast neutron levels in remote areas monitored by personnel.

From introduction: "The work described here was part of an integrated investigation of the fundamental properties of uranium oxides done for the Mallinckrodt Chemical Works. Electrical measurements were employed to characterize the oxides produced by various processes from different starting materials. The basic objective of the program was to determine those factors which affect the sintering characteristics of uranium dioxide."

This report follows work with the purposes of determining the minimum amount of nitric acid required to dissolve slurries of stored metal waste, determining the stability of such metastable solutions as a function of their chemical compositions - primarily acidity - versus time and temperature, and to define a feed suitable for a low-acid TBP process flowsheet, and to indicate the range of variations in composition which can be tolerated for plant operation.
