Patent for a "simple, inexpensive, and convenient hand-operated machine employing an oscillating knife or cutter for severing the stalk or stem and at at the same time clamping the shucks, so that the ear, when turned, will effect the bursting open of the shucks, thus permitting the ready removal of the ear" (lines 8-15).

Patent for a churn with a "perforated dasher and a hollow or tubular dasher-shaft, through which the air passes into the churn-cylinder during the process of churning" (lines 14-17). The churn has a foot-rest and a false-bottom, and is meant to improve on simple and inexpensive churns.

Patent for a door-bell joined with a tray or card-receiver, which is installed in a door. "When pulled out it will bring said tray outside the door to receive a card, letter, or package or any mail-matter, and when released will carry it inside the door again" (lines 11-15). The bell goes off when the tray, which has a toothed edge that engages the bell-hammer, is released.

Patent for an improvement on wagon-standards, to produce a durable, inexpensive, and simple wagon. When the wagon-body is removed, the wagon-standard can fold compactly. This allows the running-gear to carry timber or a platform for carrying other heavy materials.

Patent for a way to mechanically fan oneself. The machine is "held in the hand and driven by pressure of the thumb applied intermittently to a vibrating lever" (lines 15-17).

Patent for a tool for cleaning out internally-threaded apertures. This removes rust and dirt from screw-threads without damaging the threads, and is much less destructive than acid baths, heat, and screw-taps.

Patent for "a device which will support the weight of the telephone-receiver on the switch-lever whether the receiver be hung on the hooks of said lever or carelessly dropped, [the] object being to provide against the short-circuiting of the local battery when the telephone is not being used, whereby it would become uselessly exhausted, and also to insure that the signal-bell shall at such times always be in operative circuit with the central station, so that the annoyance to a distant exchange or subscriber by a failure of the call-bell to respond is avoided." Patent for a hay-press that has an easily detachable tie-box and power-head, and the plunger-beam has an improved construction. Loose hay "fed into the feed-box [is] gathered or collected by the plunger through the instrumentality of teeth on a peculiarly-formed power-head engaging teeth on the plunger-beam and then compressed by a finger or arm on the power-head baring against the end of the plunger-beam" (lines 22-28). The press does not need to pinned to the ground.

Patent for "a moldboard adapted to any plow constructed of a series of spring-loops, sundry of which are movable at the top and sundry others having movement at the bottom of the board, the moveable loops being kept in motion by the earth passing over the board, whereby portions of the board are rendered vibratory and the earth is effectually prevented from clinging thereto" (lines 8-17).

Patent for "an attachment for upright pianos designed to produce a harp, mandolin, of cithern tone, and the object in view is to provide an attachment having an improved construction of strikers." (Lines 8-12) Includes instructions and illustrations.

Patent for "a perpetual calendar embodying such a construction that the movement of a finger device will turn wheels, so as to successively display the names of the days of the week, the numbers of the days of the months, and the names of the months, the mechanism being such that the name of a month will be displayed until the numbers of all its days have been displayed, when the name of the succeeding month will be displayed, and so on."
