Expanded form of magnetic field with median plane (open access)

Expanded form of magnetic field with median plane

An effort is made to supply an easily applied formulation of the expanded form of a magnetic field with a median plane. The coefficients up to the 6th degree terms in x and y are explicitly given. (PMA)

REACTOR DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM PROGRESS REPORT, NOVEMBER 1962

Dvelopmental activities are reported on the EBWR, Borax-V, ZPR-KI, AFSR, EBR-I, EBR-II, and FARET. Progress is also reported in the area of general reactor technology in applied reactor physice, reactor fuel development, reactor materials development, heat engineering, and chemical separations. Information on advanced research and development is included concerning the AARR, undersea applications of nuclear power, conduction-cooled reactor heat sources, and direct conversion. Nuclear safety work is reported on TREAT, thermal reactor safety, and fast reactor safety. (J.R.D.)

Thermodynamics of Certain Refractory Compounds. Part II. Continued Theoretical and Experimental Studies on an Extended List. Second Quarterly Progress Report, September 1 to November 30, 1963 (open access)

Thermodynamics of Certain Refractory Compounds. Part II. Continued Theoretical and Experimental Studies on an Extended List. Second Quarterly Progress Report, September 1 to November 30, 1963

The thermodynamic properties of refractory borides, carbides, nitrides, and oxides of some 31 elements are compiled. Several tables for elements and compounds not previously reported are presented, and the experimental spectroscopic studies of the vapor of boron oxide and hydroxide are discussed. (R.J.S.)

Statistical Analysis of SNAP 10A Thermoelectric Converter Element Process Development Variables (open access)

Statistical Analysis of SNAP 10A Thermoelectric Converter Element Process Development Variables

Statistical analysis, primarily analysis of variance, was applied to evaluate several factors involved in the development of suitable fabrication and processing techniques for the production of lead telluride thermoelectric elements for the SNAP 10A energy conversion system. The analysis methods are described as to their application for determining the effects of various processing steps, estabIishing the value of individual operations, and evaluating the significance of test results. The elimination of unnecessary or detrimental processing steps was accomplished and the number of required tests was substantially reduced by application of these statistical methods to the SNAP 10A production development effort. PERTURBATION THEORY OF MANY-BOSON SYSTEMS (open access)

PERTURBATION THEORY OF MANY-BOSON SYSTEMS

A noncanonical transformation of the boson creation and annihilation operators is performed in order to obtain a Hamiltonian which can be treated by the standard methods of field-theoretic perturbation theory. The standard results of Belyaev (with a slight modification) are rederived by this technique. (auth)
