Carry On: One Digitization Lab's Journey Through Temporary Displacement
Presentation on the mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) upgrades at the University of North Texas Library which required the displacement of the Digital Projects Lab staff and students from their lab for an estimated six weeks. With little access to digitization equipment, the lab planned to continue running during that period. By presenting the preparation and planning for the move, the logistics of the transition, and the results from the experience, the authors hope to share their strategies for digitization lab mobility and continued, off-site productivity. It was presented at the Texas Conference on Digital Libraries held virtually on May 24-26, 2021.

The Perils of Complexity: A multi-stage study to determine necessary images for digitized scrapbook representation
Presentation on a multi-stage study to assess national trends and user preferences for scrapbook representation undertaken by librarians at the University of North Texas. The stages of this study included a review of national trends in scrapbook digitization, as seen in the Digital Public Library of America; a paper-prototyping-inspired, in-person user study; and an online survey of user preferences. The results of this research have enabled the implementation of clear guidelines at the University of North Texas for scrapbook digitization that accounts for the user experience rather than strictly relying on personal opinion or local librarian consensus. It was presented at the Visual Resource Association Annual Conference held on March 22-26, 2021.

EPIC: A Proposed Model for Approaching Metadata Improvement
Abstract: This paper outlines iterative steps involved in metadata improvement within a digital library: Evaluate, Prioritize, Identify, and Correct (EPIC). The process involves evaluating metadata values system-wide to identify errors; prioritizing errors according to local criteria; identifying records containing a particular error; and correcting individual records to eliminate the error. Based on the experiences at the University of North Texas (UNT) Libraries, we propose that these cyclical steps can serve as a model for organizations that are planning and conducting metadata quality assessment.
