Short sleeves with 2" rolled cuffs and shawl collar. Center front opening has 4 self-covered buttons above waist, and 6 hook-and-loops below waist on peplum for securing into skirt. Fitted seaming and pleats centered on waist. Unlined. Label inside top at left side seam: "Made in France / Christian Dior / Paris" and stamped on label: "05456" B) Skirt of matching brocade. The mid-length skirt is double box pleated from narrow waistband. Center back zipper with hook-and-eyes at waistband. Unlined. C) Petticoat of ivory moiré satin. Mid-length, with narrow waistband. Barrel-line jacket of tan wool. Hip length with long sleeves, two angled slit pockets at hips. Center front opening with three circular self-covered buttons and bound buttonholes. Notched shawl collar. Lower front cut away diagonally. Flaps at upper breast on either side simulating pocket flaps, nonfunctional. Lined in black silk. Daytime ensemble of brown silk faille: A) Dress. Below-knee length. Dress has princess seaming to create fitted bodice, with wide, overlapped V-neckline. Bodice has boned under structure. 3/4" shoulder straps and straight skirt. 1" belt of self fabric from front darts to center back; closes with hook & loops. Center back zipper with hook & eye. Unlined. B) Cropped jacket with pleated in front and back to a 3" waistband. Closure of three openwork, brass buttons, 1/2" wide, and bound buttonholes. Long sleeves with 1-1/2" cuffs and one matching button and bound buttonhole per sleeve. Band collar has 10" tie ends and L-shaped lapel. Unlined. Evening skirt of black satin. Full length; A-line. Center back opening shows evidence of having a removed zipper; 1" webbed waistband of self has two large hook & eyes. Unlined.

Cloche-style hat of pink fur felt. Lattice-work design in strips of same fabric surrounds crown and forms knot at side.

Hat of black organza. The hat is in the form of a pillbox designed as a turban. A wired framework is overlaid with black organza, pleated to form long folds running front to back. At the front of the hat is a large bow of the same material, the trailing pieces pleated to match the crown and affixed to run in same direction. Lined in black mesh, and with inner hatband of black grosgrain ribbon. Elastic string inside to run around back of wearer's head to secure hat. Two small hatpins with custom covers of same material on heads are stuck in back of hat. Designer's Label: "Lilly / Dache / Paris New York / 78th East 56th Street, N.Y."

Boater hat of loosely woven natural straw with navy netting and beige veil covering crown. Pink velvet and silk flowers with yellow center and leaves as trim at center front. Lined in yellow net with gold tulle and metallic gold rickrack headband. Combs at sides for securing hat to head.

Blouse of navy blue wool. Wide, boat neckline with inner wide white pique lining which folds over dark plum(?) facing of wool collar, to become shawl collar. Double breasted, with three pair of circular black buttons and single hook-and-eye at waist. Sleeveless, with slight "cap" effect caused by wide shoulders darting, and deep diagonal line of sides. Raised waist and flaring peplum. Unlined. Inner structure augmented with satin ribbons sewn to help hold structure of bodice. Evening gown of black crepe with maroon sequin trim. Full-length. Bodice of thin net covered with swirling pattern of magenta purple sequins. Rounded neckline. Short sleeves with shoulder pads. Empire waist has set-in waistband with added butterfly-shaped panel below set-in panel on front. Flared skirt, bias-cut. Left side opening (closure missing); bodice has center front opening with 5 snaps and hook & eye at neckline. Unlined. Peplum is asymmetric and longer on left. Long dolman sleeves with underarm gussets and folded back cuffs. B) Belt of black leather. Rectangular self-covered buckle. Stamped on reverse: "12"

Short, rounded shawl collar is faced with black wool crepe with radiating ridges. Long two-piece sleeves with three non-functional self-covered buttons. Center front opening with three large circular self-covered buttons and bound buttonholes. Four double welt slash pockets of black wool crepe: two non-functional small ones at upper left and right breast, and two larger functional ones lower.
