Ensemble - Dress and Bolero Jacket

Evening ensemble in orange and taupe crepe. The sleeveless, full-length dress is of taupe crepe, and has a "V" neckline in front and a deep "V" in back. Around high waist is a wide band of orange crepe outlined in gold braid and oval simulated pearls. The band is heavily beaded in faux coral and turquoise beads in various patterns and floral motifs. The bodice of the dress gathers into the front of the band, and has a zipper and hook-and-eyes closure at left side. The Bolero jacket is of the orange crepe. The cropped jacket has a rounded neckline and long sleeves. The neckline, center front opening, and lower hem is heavily beaded to match the band on the dress, with added faux turquoise beading in floral forms on the front panels of the jacket. No labels in either garment.

Coat

Coat of cream colored broadtail. Hip- to 7/8-length. Long sleeves with wide cuffs trimmed in brown mink. Detachable collar of brown mink with 4 bands of brown mink, two per side, which snap at collar (3 snaps) and hang down at front. Center front closure, which fastens with double-strand ribbon belt from interior at right to loop on left edge of coat. Fully lined in cream silk, with applied silk monogram quilted to lining: "RYL". Retailer's label at inside back collar: "Bergdorf / Goodman / Fifth Avenue / at 58th Street"

..Ski suit of grey-blue gaberdine wool. a) Jacket. Single breasted with notched lapel; waist length; fitted. Closure of three silver buttons and bound buttonholes. Side welt pockets with flaps and closure of smaller matching silver button. Long sleeves with half band and non-functioning matching silver button; extra matching button on back of sleeve as trim (right sleeve button missing). Lined with white cotton in Delft blue inspired print. b) Pants. Wide legs with knitted cuffs. High waisted; belt loops on waistband and adjustable tabs with buckles below waistband at sides. Hat of camel-colored cashmere felt. The crown is roughly cone-shaped, swelling at center and flattened at an angle at the top. Hatband of black grosgrain ribbon, below which the hat swells out to become the asymmetrical brim. At right side(?) is black grosgrain ribbon bow with attached trailing golden tan/brown ostrich plumes. Hatband of black grosgrain ribbon. Sewn onto the inner ribbon is designer's label: "Walter Florell / 29 East 53rd New York". Measurements: 19 cm. high from base of brim to top of crown; 22 cm. across at widest point; 24 cm. long from front to back.
