"Mushroom" hat

Calotte style hat of black velvet covered with pearl beads and rhinestones. The circular domed hat has a narrow, up-turned brim and is completely covered with a latticework of oval faux pearl beads with rhinestones set at each intersection. At the top of the crown is an upstanding black velvet covered wire surmounted by a "mushroom cap" finial beaded in the same way as the rest of the hat. Headband of black grosgrain ribbon; lined in black netting. Measurements: 20 cm wide, front to back; 18 cm wide, side to side; 19 cm high from base of brim to tip of finial.

Open-crown hat

Bergère style, open-crown hat of finely woven black horsehair. Formed without a crown, the hat has a center headband of black velvet ribbon with large bow and trailing ribbons at back. From headband extends wide, floppy brim of fine black stiff mesh/net horsehair. A small plastic comb attached at front center of headband helps secure hat to wearer's head. Printed handkerchief

Ladies' handkerchief. Square of off-white fabric with outer edge of printed coral pink. Just inside outer edge is border of purple and coral flowers with green leaves/stems. Corners of field with printed sprays of flowers in same colors, center of each side with smaller sprays, and with scattered blossoms throughout. Very faint decoration of scrolls and flowers in almost same shade of white as background. No labels or tags. approx. 11 3/4" square.

Silk nightgown

White bias cut silk nightgown. Semi-fitted. sleeveless. empire bodice with open rounded neckline. The neckline and armholes are scalloped and finished with pale gray satin-stitching. The bodice front has three scalloped cut-outs backed with nylon net. The areas surrounding the cut-outs are embroidered with small gray flower and dot clusters. The bodice gathers under the bust line into the curved empire seam. Waist ties at the side seams that tie center back. Ankle-length. bias cut skirt with rolled hem. Label stitched inside center back. below the neckline.

Knee-length. princess-line. white cotton. camisole slip. Shaped neckline with eyelet trim and eyelet shoulder straps. The shoulder straps' eyelet is stitched over white cotton twill tape. Princess-line six panel shell with turned hem. There is a 4" wide flounce of eyelet lace applied 4" above the hemline. The initials "B.H." are written in brown ink inside the back neckline. below the right shoulder strap. The slip is homemade and appears to be a petticoat from 1910-1915 that has been altered and remade.
