Ensemble - Dress and Coat

Dress and coat of peacock feathers. The short, sleeveless dress is entirely covered with peacock breast feathers, accented with a 1" band of blue cording and chenille trim at neckline and with blue cord spaghetti straps. It is fully lined with navy polyester. The long, sleeveless coat is covered with peacock herl / flue feathers. It has a round neckline, and no closure. These pieces are part of a larger ensemble, consisting of a total of 9 pieces decorated with peacock and/or golden pheasant feathers. Worn to the Emmy Awards ceremony in Los Angeles, California, April 1976.

Man’s suit of melon orange/brown-colored 55% wool/45% polyester blend outlined in topstitching. A) Jacket. Two button closure with similar colored marbled buttons. Wide notched lapel with high lapels and button hole on left lapel. Sleeves have vents and three buttons. Two hip pockets with flap; one left single welt breast pocket. Double vents in the back. Right breast interior welt pocket; left interior breast pocket with pen pocket beside; interior coin pocket at hip. Fully lined in cream viscose. Six button closure with tailored buttonholes; points at hem. Single welt pocket on each side at waist. Fully lined with cream synthetic. Whole back panel in cream viscose.

Bolero jacket of black suede. Accordion sleeves. Asymmetric front opening is slightly curved with five self-covered black buttons for closure and peaked right hem.
