Suit of chocolate brown wool. A) Jacket of chocolate brown wool. Double breasted with six circular dark chocolate brown buttons and bound buttonholes and one hidden covered snap. Princess seaming. Bracelet length sleeves with 2 smaller matching, functioning buttons and bound buttonholes. Collar has squared corners. Side flap pockets. Collar, opening, sleeves and pockets trimmed in black binding. Lined in matching brown silk with weighted hem. Designer's label at center back neckline: "Norman Norell / New York" Retailer's label at center back neckline: "Marie Leavell" Retailer's label of donor's shop at center back neckline: "Howard Wolf / Dallas * New York" B) Skirt in matching chocolate brown wool. Knee-length, slight A-line with 1" waistband having three hooks and eyes at left side above side zipper. Hidden inside slit pockets at hips, one partly created by side zipper/flap. Lined in matching silk. Lining of side slit pockets are weighted. No labels in skirt, other than "Front" label inside waistband to indicate front.

Day dress

Dress of navy blue wool jersey. a) Day dress of navy wool jersey. White linen detachable collar connects to neckline with snaps. Below knee length with A-line skirt. White linen 7/8" bias strip at edge of center front opening that extends 7 1/2" below waist. Thirteen 3/4" pearl buttons with gold edge and bound buttonholes; buttons separate at waistline to accommodate belt. Long sleeves with 1-3/4" slit at seam. 3" deep pleat in skirt at side front and back. Concealed slit pockets in side seams. Unlined. Designer's label on inside left seam: "Norman Norell / New York" b) Belt of 3" wide white patent leather, slightly curved, with large circular gold buckle. Not original to garment. Evidence of small cords at side seams, which Norell usually used to attach cloth belts, or thin belt-loops. This belt would not have fit. Retailer's stamp on reverse: "I Magnin / 30 Calderon 5938"

Wild silk suit

Suit of ecru woven tussah (wild) silk consisting of 3 pieces: Size 10 A) Jacket of a slightly textured ecru/pale tan Tussah silk. Notched shawl collar, long sleeves with non-function single button at each cuff matching, center front opening with 5 circular mother of pearl buttons which are actually two buttons, a smaller stacked on a larger - cuff buttons are same. Two pockets, one at each hip. Hem, edges of opening, pocket flaps, sleeve hems, collar all slightly padded. Lined in cream silk printed with Mr. John logo in gold. B) Skirt of matching fabric. Knee-length or slightly longer. Pencil skirt, Slightly gathered/pleated into ecru grosgrain ribbon waistband. Two zippers, one at each hip. Lined in same fabric as jacket, with Mr. John logo in gold. C) blouse of matching fabric. Square neckline. Sleeveless. Lined in same fabric as skirt, with Mr. John logo. No labels in any of the pieces, but all with the Mr. John logo fabric.

Evening ensemble. A) Evening coat of green brocade with floral motifs in reds, greens, yellows, browns. Full-length. Rounded high neckline. Center front opening with 4 circular buttons and loops; buttons covered in the pale green satin of the lining, the loops made of the brocade. Top button lacking. No pockets. Full inner lining of slightly iridescent olive green satin. No labels or tags. B) Evening dress. Bodice of brocade matching the coat. Sleeveless; square neckline with thin straps. Princess seaming/fitting. Left strap detaches on one end with hook-and-eye. Zipper opening at left underarm. Very full skirt, full-length, with layers of pale moss-green chiffon. Semi-formal gown

Semi-formal gown of ivory silk faille and light green taffeta. Below knee-length, the ivory silk faille bodice is sleeveless and has a jewel neckline . Arched princess seams from arm opening to dropped waistline are mirrored on back. Patch pockets cut on bias at hips. The light green taffeta skirt gathers to the ivory silk faille bodice at dropped waist, and has attached interior supporting structure of 5-1/2" and 17" tiers of stiffened synthetic organdy(?). The dress has a center back zipper with hook & eye and hook & eye with snap at skirt. Bodice lined in ivory synthetic fabric and skirt is lined cotton organdy.
