Wool and fur suit

Skirt suit of brown, grey and white wool and fur. wool forms a subtle plaid with slub yarns. Fur is gray close to clothing and brown at ends. A) Jacket. Hip-length with standing collar. Long sleeves and center-front opening with no closure. Neckline, opening, hem, and cuffs trimmed with variegated fur, grays to black. Sleeves with 2" vent, at top of which is a large brown tooth-shaped bead. Around neckline, opening, hem, cufs, and above vents is a wide band of embroidery and beading in stylized floral patterns in browns, golds, silvers, blues, greens, etc. Jacket is part-lined along back and shoulders with gray/green silk(?). Evening dress

Evening dress of black velvet and fuchsia satin. The dress has an empire-length bodice of black velvet, with a scoop neckline and long fitted sleeves which have hidden zipper closures. The Empire waistline is accented with a horizontal band of fuchsia satin with bow at center front. Extending down from the waistband is the full fuchsia satin skirt. The full-length skirt has vertical inverted pleats edged with bands of black velvet that extend from the waistband to just below the hips. At center back is a zipper closure. The bodice is lined in black silk, and has a black grosgrain ribbon inner waistband which secures with hook-and-eyes. The skirt has an inner slip lining of fuchsia fabric with a wide fuchsia satin hem matching the skirt. Designer label stitched into garment at right center-back, beside the zipper "Oscar de la Renta" with second label "Made in U.S.A." sewn below. Handwritten couture number on the designer label: "5638 F-92".

Dress of navy blue wool jersey. a) Day dress of navy wool jersey. White linen detachable collar connects to neckline with snaps. Below knee length with A-line skirt. White linen 7/8" bias strip at edge of center front opening that extends 7 1/2" below waist. Thirteen 3/4" pearl buttons with gold edge and bound buttonholes; buttons separate at waistline to accommodate belt. Long sleeves with 1-3/4" slit at seam. 3" deep pleat in skirt at side front and back. Concealed slit pockets in side seams. Unlined. Designer's label on inside left seam: "Norman Norell / New York" b) Belt of 3" wide white patent leather, slightly curved, with large circular gold buckle. Not original to garment. Evidence of small cords at side seams, which Norell usually used to attach cloth belts, or thin belt-loops. This belt would not have fit. Retailer's stamp on reverse: "I Magnin / 30 Calderon 5938"
