Ensemble - Japanese Traditional Ensemble

Complete "Geisha" traditional Japanese women's ensemble, of the Kyoto style. The complete ensemble includes various under garments and accessories not seen in images, as well as primary components: Kimono - Salmon colored polyester outer garment with woven geometric design ground decorated with cherry blossoms, mums, and other flowers. Applique of flowers across back of neck/right shoulders. Hand sewn, this is a "Spring" kimono.; Obi of white, silver, and orange brocade; Sash of pink and white shibori; Obi Jimi braided orange cord belt to tie around obi; Tabi socks; Geta sandals (not in images); Fan, and traditional wig, embellished with artificial flowers.

Shirt of red jacquard. Chinese style with mandarin collar, kimono sleeves, and four black and gold frogs to close the front. Top frog closes collar. Evening gown. Strapless, full-length gown with pattern of horizontal chevrons in orange and white, and with Lurex chevrons in metallic iridescent blues, greens, and orange. Upper edge of dress with band of same fabric at 90 degree angle, and with flat bow of self at center front. Zipper at back, off-center to left side. Bodice with inner corset band with snaps and hooks-and-eyes. Dress lined in cream damask with woven logo “Mori Hanae” repeated over entire surface. With accompanying rectangular orange silk shawl/scarf/wrap. Designer's label: "Hanae Mori" with Japanese characters.

Cape

Cape made from an antique Japanese obi brocade of red, gold, orange, browns, etc. on a cream ground. Embroidery is of cranes, mums, and other flowers. The cape is mid-length, with one button and loop at neck and with "tie" of same material as an extension of standing collar. Center front opening. Box pleats at sides. Cocktail dress of blue, aqua and white rayon/nylon blend brocade with gold metallic lurex threads in stylized chrysanthemum flower and semi-circle or rainbow motif. Knee-length. Center front zipper is hidden by ivory satin placket with 5 self-covered buttons. Double collar of brocade under and ivory satin upper. Short sleeves. Two patch pockets with flaps and ivory satin covered button on front at sides. Princess seams. "Mount Fuji" dress

A) Evening dress of gray silk chiffon with print of Mount Fuji scene at bottom of dress with yellow and white blossoms on upper portion accented with Japanese writing in red rectangular boxes. "Hanae Mori" signature in print. Under layer of black chiffon. High rounded neckline. Full length, straight silhouette. Long sleeves are open under arms and are formed from rectangular panels which drape like kimono sleeves for full length of dress. Center back zipper closure with hook & eye on lining; covered snaps on black chiffon and gray chiffon layers with hook & eye joining the layers at neckline. Lined in gray rayon. Dress

Evening dress of red, blue and gray polyester silk chiffon with scarf. A) Dress has draped bodice with moderate deep V-neckline. Center front lapped opening with three hook & eyes and two snaps as the closure. Set-in modified kimono sleeves gather at the top of the arm eye and at 1-1/2" cuffs. The cuffs fasten with a single loop and covered shank button. The sleeves are open/slit along the outer edge and under arm. Natural waist seam with full-length, semi-full red polyester silk underskirt and printed chiffon over skirt. The underskirt is slit at the side seams. The bodice is fully lined in red polyester silk. Elasticized waistline. Shoulder pads. Designer's label at center back neckline: "Hanae Mori" Fiber content/care tag, union label and style/size tag at right side seam of lining. B) Scarf/sash of matching printed chiffon. Long narrow rectangular shape with rolled hem. Worn as a scarf it would hang to mid-calf. Worn as a sash it would be hem length.

Dress

Evening dress of floral and butterfly patterned silk chiffon over same patterned silk surah in orange, pink and light blue. Chiffon fabric has "Hanae Mori" signature in pattern. Fitted, slightly empire bodice with moderate, round, bound neckline. Flared, full-length raglan sleeves of silk chiffon. The sleeves are slit at the underarm seam from the elbow to the wrist. Center back zipper closure from neck to hip line with a single hook & eye at the neckline. Over skirt secured at waistline with four suspended, covered snaps. Slightly raised empire waist seam with semi-fitted, full length skirt. Ombre velvet belt in shades of yellow/tan to pale green. The belt is secured center front with a single hook & loop, and the closure is disguised by a bow with tails. Chiffon over skirt has center front lapped opening from waist to hem. Fully lined in white silk. Green satin spaghetti straps matching piping around upper edge of bodice; empire waist. Bodice is covered in matching bugle beads that accentuate the pattern of the fabric. Floor length. Dress

Dress of bright green chiffon printed with multi-color shapes and with all-over scattered sequins and beading. The full-length A-line sheath has a round neckline with beaded band trim at neckline. The long sleeves have five non-functioning beaded buttons at wrist, and five hidden snap closures from wrist. The dress has an attached underdress of matte silk printed with same design as the overdress. The garment is fully lined with cream silk which has woven into it a repeated pattern of Hanae Mori's name. The underdress has a zipper closure at center back from neckline to above waist. The overdress has a series of hidden snaps to conceal the zipper, and a line of eight beaded buttons matching those on the sleeves, also non-functional. A single hook-and-loop closure at neck secures the top of the garment. The printed design includes circles, flowers, and fluid lines and triangles in shades of pink, yellow, blue, orange, and violet. The sequins are clear, and are secured with tiny colored beads, the colors of which match the color of the dress they are sewn over. Sewn inside dress at back at left of zipper is designer label: "[Japanese characters] / Hanae Mori"
