Composition-dependent apparent activation-energy and sluggish grain-growth in high entropy alloys
Article discusses experimental results which reveal that the apparent activation-energy for grain-growth in an fcc-based AlxCoCrFeNi high entropy alloy (HEA) system increases from 179 to 486 kJ/mol when the Al content increases from x = 0.1 to 0.3.

Solving the (n² - 1)-Puzzle with 8/3 n³ Expected Moves
In this article, it is shown that the greedy algorithm for the (n² - 1)-puzzle makes 8/3 + O(n²) expected moves. This analysis is verified experimentally on 10,000 random instances each of the (n² - 1)-puzzle for 4 ≤ n ≤ 200.

Dynamic Shear Deformation of a Precipitation Hardened Al0.7CoCrFeNi Eutectic High-Entropy Alloy Using Hat-Shaped Specimen Geometry
The article reports on the shear deformation of a eutectic structured HEA and effect of precipitation on shear deformation, particularly Al₀.₇CoCrFeNi high-entropy alloy (HEA). A split-Hopkinson pressure bar (SHPB) was used to compress the hat-shaped specimens to study the local dynamic shear response of the alloy. The change in the width of shear bands with respect to precipitation and deformation rates was studied. The precipitation of L1₂ phase did not delay the formation of adiabatic shear bands (ASB) or affect the ASB width significantly, however, the deformed region around ASB, consisting of high density of twins in fcc phase, was reduced from 80 µm to 20 µm in the stronger precipitation strengthened condition.

Design approaches for printability-performance synergy in Al alloys for laser-powder bed additive manufacturing
This article highlights that design of Al alloys for laser-powder bed fusion (L-PBF) can lead to fundamental change in the microstructure evolution, proposed alloy design strategies lead to synergy between and printability and performance, hierarchical and heterogeneous microstructures have potential to overcome the strength-ductility tradeoff, and alloy design incorporating the specific attributes of an AM technology is crucial to maximizing its potential.

Highly complex magnetic behavior resulting from hierarchical phase separation in AlCo(Cr)FeNi high-entropy alloys
Article presents for the first time the influence of a hierarchically decomposed B2 + A2 structure in an AlCo0.5Cr0.5FeNi HEA on the formation of magnetic vortex states within individual A2 (disordered BCC) precipitates, which are distributed in an ordered B2 matrix that is weakly ferromagnetic.

Probing Noise in Flux Qubits via Macroscopic Resonant Tunneling
Article on the characterization of noise in a flux qubit using macroscopic resonant tunneling between the two lowest lying states of a bistable rf SQUID. A modified random network model for P2O5–Na2O–Al2O3–SiO2 glass studied by molecular dynamics simulations
This article investigates the short- and medium-range structural features of sodium aluminosilicate glasses with various P₂O₅ (0–7 mol%) content and Al/Na ratios ranging from 0.667 to 2.000 by using molecular dynamics simulations. Based on the simulated structural information, a modified random network model for P₂O₅-bearing sodium aluminosilicate glass has been proposed, which could be useful to optimize the mobility of sodium ions and design novel functional glass compositions.

Feasibility of PROMIS using computerized adaptive testing during inpatient rehabilitation
Article describes how there has been an increased significance on patient-reported outcomes in clinical settings. The authors aimed to evaluate the feasibility of administering patient-reported outcome measures by computerized adaptive testing (CAT) using a tablet computer with rehabilitation inpatients, assess workload demands on staff, and estimate the extent to which rehabilitation inpatients have elevated T-scores on six Patient Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) measures.
