Photocopy of a letter from Kristen Marstaller, Art / Social Studies Coordinator for the Austin Independent School District to Bill McCarter, co-director of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts. To thank McCarter on the behalf of Austin teachers and the presentation he made at the Art Share meeting. Marstaller writes that many of the misunderstandings and misconceptions were cleared up and the faculty was impressed with his knowledge and willingness to assist the Austin District. Martaller will reach out to McCarter at a later date to further discuss the program and ask for suggestions and advice as they proceeded with implementation of DBAE.

Photocopy of a letter from Robert H. Smith, Senator, Mississippi State Senate, to Jack Davis, co-director of North Texas Institute for Educators on the Visual Arts. To thank Davis for his success in promoting music and art in the curriculum as an instructional tool. Smith writes that he was successful on August 10, 1992 in having the Southern Legislative Conference adopt the resolution stating the need for music and arts education in public school curriculum and the success of the movement will depend on securing financing. Smith ends the letter asking for Davis's assistance in that matter.

The Getty Education Institute has provided the participants with a summary of the DBAE Leadership forum that was held January 11, 1997. The summary describes all that had transpired at the DBAE Leadership conference, beginning with a speech from the Director of Getty Education Institute for the Arts, Leilani Lattin Duke. The context of the summary is positive, the recommendations from the conferences' discussion are being used by the Education Institute to inform long-range plans for educational reform, taking arts education into the next century.

If the CD's were used, the Getty would need a report back from the directors on how they were used and by who.

In regards a meeting Bill McCarter and Reynolds had where they evaluated Fletcher and her secondary teachers in promoting and the implementation of discipline-based art education, DBAE. The rest of the letter goes into details about materials and supplies Fletcher needs to obtain for her teachers, along with handbook materials Reynolds has provided for Fletcher.

Historical Museum, writing how much Broadus enjoyed the Docent Training Workshop and for giving Broadus an opportunity to work with the docents. Enclosed in the letter to Sellmeyer, Broadus has sent teacher packets and museum education brochures from Meadows Museum at SMU, to help Sellmeyer gather new ideas for her education tour at the Historical Museum. O'Donnell thanks Davis for his interest in the Young Audiences project and for copying video tape material for O'Donnell and her staff. O'Donnell says she was interested in hearing about Davis's experience with fiber optics and distance learning and hopes the Museum will allow the proper wiring to allow them to be on the cutting edge for arts education.
