Joe was the only adult male to survive the assault of the Alamo by Mexican forces led by Santa Anna on March 6, 1836. Joe’s survival offers some of the most critical accounts of the fighting. Joe arrived in Texas in 1832 – 1833, and this video lecture covers his life and testimony about the attack at the Alamo. Joe arrived at the Alamo when Travis took over command there in February 1836
