The use of the semantic differential in a study of the effects of aspirational and dissociative reference group influence on consumer behavior

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of aspirational and dissociative reference group influence on consumer behavior. The Captain Stormfield character in the published and unpublished works of Mark Twain (open access)

The Captain Stormfield character in the published and unpublished works of Mark Twain

Captain Stormfield, the main character in Mark Twain's last book, Extract from Captain Stormfield's Visit to Heaven (1909), appears numerous times--under either the Stormfield name or some other--in Twain's published and unpublished works. Scholar's since Train's death have given only passing or slight notice to the Stormfield character. His numerous appearances, however his pivotal function among several unfinished works, and his essential optimism must lead to an awareness of his significant role in Twain's fiction.

Reforming the Church of England, 1895-1919 (open access)

Reforming the Church of England, 1895-1919

This study deals with the events after 1895 which led to a major reshaping of the Church of England's policy and organization in 1919. Significant persons and powerful influences were at work during these years to prevent, as well as promote change in the Established Church. This study will show what those influences were, and discuss persons significant in their work for or against reform.

The principle of "sankofa" in elementary music instruction in southern Ghana: selected school personnel's views of and their role in its implementation

The study ascertained elementary school teachers' and supervisors' views about their role in the implementation of Sankofa (Go back and retrieve) in school music. In music, it calls for the fusion of multi-ethnic musics of Ghana with Western musical concepts in public school music instruction. Some concerns expressed by Ghanian music educators regarding teachers' negative attitudes toward Sankofa in public school music had prompted the study.
