Compilation of articles published during 1955 in The Waco-Times Herald, written by Nanine Simmons about the history of Mexia, Texas and focusing on the oil boom in the 1920s. The author includes a preface regarding the sources of her information and editorial notes for some of the articles to provide more context.

College Department of Extension Service; State Agricultural Department; Markets and Warehouses Department; [and the] Chamber of Commerce in East Texas" (p. 1).

This book gives an overview of the twelve Blackland Counties of Texas in alphabetical order. For each county, a brief description of the geographic and agricultural characteristics is given as well as statistics on population and county income. Additionally, a geological description of the Black Prairie Region gives more specific aspects of the area and the soil compositions and a final chapter discusses the property market of the area.
