The purpose of this study is to determine the types of audio-visual aids that are being used in the junior high schools of Texas, the extent of their use, the evaluation by teachers in service of various audio-visual aids, the needs recognized by the teachers in service for additional audio-visual aids in the respective schools, and the needs of teachers in service for aid and instructions in the use of such aids. It is hoped that, with this information and additional information from professional literature, conclusions can be drawn and recommendations made that will aid teachers in the Texas junior high schools to use available audio-visual aids to a much greater advantage than is now being evidenced.

How to Build a Log Cabin by the Post-and-Beam Method

The primary purpose of this study is to give simple and detailed instructions for building a log cabin by the post-and-beam method. The data were gathered from three sources: (1) library research, (2) interviews with experienced builders of cabins, and (3) personal experience in cabin construction. A step-by-step guide for building a cabin is given in Chapters II and III, which explain in depth how to construct each section of the cabin, from laying the foundation to putting on the finishing touches. It is believed that any serious builder can follow the directions and construct his own log cabin for less than one-third the cost of a similar commercially built cabin.

To Determine the Use Which Should be Made of Art Metal Work in the Junior High School, as Indicated by the Seventh Grade of the Demonstration School, 1935-36, and by an Analysis of the Field

This study attempts to determine what use should be made of art metal work in the junior high school. It attempts to determine whether art metal work should be offered strictly as art metal, as combinations of art metal and wrought iron, or as combinations of art metal and wood, from the standpoint both of the child and of the ultimate aim of Industrial Arts. The ultimate aim or objective of Industrial Arts is to provide such training as that of general education, which will best equip for efficient membership society. Broadly speaking, all the offerings of the Industrial Arts field contribute in some measure to the attainment of the ultimate objective. It is the purpose of this study (1) to present an analysis of the field of art metal work from the standpoint of the Industrial Arts; (2) to determine the use which should be made of art metal work in the junior high school, as indicated by a group of Demonstration School students; and, (3) to present problems and related information pertaining to art metal work, as indicated by a group of Demonstration School students. A Comparative Analysis of the Need for Various Knowledge and Skills in Plastics as Viewed by Texas High School Plastic Teachers and Texas Plastics Industries

This was a comparative study in which Texas teachers of industrial plastics and the employers of Texas plastic industries were surveyed in order to evaluate the need for various knowledge and skills of the plastics industry. The respondents believed that basic knowledge of plastics was much needed, and knowledge of the thermoplastic family is of more importance than of the thermoset family. It was also concluded that knowledge of demonstration skills is of only average or lesser importance than knowledge of other areas.
