This article discusses the use of network analysis through the creation Metadata Record Graphs to analyze the interconnectedness of subject and keywords in the University of North Texas Theses and Dissertations collection. The analysis compares overlap of controlled terms (Library of Congress Subject Headings) and uncontrolled terms (keywords), as well as the effects of basic format normalization (to simulate editing values for consistency) to evaluate how well subjects connect in the collection.

White paper documenting the results of interviews with professionals who manage collections of state or federal documents, and institutional repositories. This paper analyzes the relationship between subject terms -- both authorized terms from controlled vocabularies and free-text keywords -- used to succinctly describe the content of the electronic theses and dissertations (ETDs) and the search terms entered by users to discover and access the ETDs. Identification of search terms and comparison of search results with subject terms used in describing ETDs provides a basis for assessing the relative usefulness of controlled-vocabulary subject terms supplied by professional indexers and free-text keywords supplied by authors of ETDs in facilitating access to ETDs. Arguably, there has been a shift in the way users search, access, and use information resources.

Data management plan for the grant "Making Audio/Visual Digital Collections Content Accessible for All Texans." Project to improve audio/visual (A/V) content accessibility available through The Portal to Texas History at the University of North Texas Libraries. The project addresses the needs of Deaf and Blind users who often lack fundamental access for many A/V materials in digital repositories while also providing benefit to abled users and those with other special needs through efforts to transcribe, translate, describe, interpret, and chapter both research-oriented and primary-source A/V content.

Data management plan for the grant "Texas Digital Newspaper Project." This project includes the digitization of 100,000 pages of Texas newspapers dating from 1836 to 1922, as part of the state's participation in the National Digital Newspaper Program (NDNP). The University of North Texas plans to digitize and make available to Chronicling America 100,000 pages of historic Texas newspapers. The selected titles will reflect the political and economic history of the state; provide coverage for major regions of the state, including most major population areas; and have a broad chronological span. Additionally, titles selected during this project will focus on non-English newspapers important to the history of Texas which, for several reasons, have been overlooked and are underrepresented in national digital newspaper holdings. Pulling on the strengths and knowledge gained in previous years as an awardee, the UNT Libraries recognize the challenges involved in an undertaking of this scope and possesses the knowledge and management skills to achieve success.

Presentation describing the ongoing CoRSAL (Computational Resource for South Asian Languages) project, including background on the UNT Digital Library infrastructure and metadata schema, specific fields that have presented issues or areas of discussion for language data records (language, creator/contributor, and relation), and final conclusions about the collaboration so far.

The authors examine the consequences of current iniquities through the lens of self-determination theory (SDT).

This presentation covers the background of these topics and their definitions, tools and policies for open access, technology and emerging trends, challenges/opportunities that open access faces, and ultimately relates this information to open access initiatives in developing countries.

This presentation covers a study conducted on tourism in Ethiopia. The study used an Ontology approach to research how Ethiopian tourism destination information can be supported with a machine-readable and interoperable model, be made visible and accessible to both international and local tourists, and improve reusability, integrity, and retrieval of tourist information in Ethiopia.
