This report consists of a presentation of prices paid for the various classifications and grades of cattle sold in the Fort Worth Livestock Market during 1952; a comparison of 1951-1952 prices showing a sharp decline in the price of all grades and classifications which began in June of 1952; and an examination of some of the major factors contributing to the decline in cattle prices as reflected in the Livestock Market, Fort Worth, Texas. From a study of cattle prices that prevailed in the Fort Worth market during 1951 and 1952, and a consideration of some of the factors contributing thereto, the following conclusions are drawn: First, prices of all grades of cattle soared to unusually high levels during 1951, thereby accentuating the drop in price which occurred in the latter part of 1952. Second, the withholding of cattle from slaughter, during a cattle build-up process, rather than a scarcity of cattle in this country was primarily responsible for extremely high prices in 1951. The problem of this study is the economic status of college teachers in Texas, with emphasis on actual support afforded that profession in the past and in the present; and objective statistical analysis of the ability of the state to more adequately support the profession now and in the future, and the theoretical and actual importance which that economic status presages for out state and society. Actual support of higher education will be measured by salaries and expenditures; ability to support will be measured by the relative wealth of each state in per capita income.

It is the purpose of this problem to classify the four major pastures of the McMurry ranch using the discussed classification system. The definite measurable qualities characterizing each condition of the system are used extensively in this study. The problem is concerned also with the observation of results of misuse, the present practices that could result in further depletion of portions of the McMurry ranch, and procedures being employed at the present time aimed toward the restoration of these depleted portions.

This study is an analysis of the industrial arts program of the Fort Worth Public Schools, Fort Worth, Texas.

The purpose of this study is to determine the concepts held by college students in the Air Force Reserve Officer Training Corps concerning leadership. An attempt will be made to indicate the relative importance of these concepts of leadership as determined by the college students. Also, the opinions of the different classes--freshmen, sophomores, juniors, and seniors concerning these concepts will be obtained.

The purposes of this study are sixfold. They are as follows: 1. To study the various recommended courses of study for automobile mechanics and to ascertain the units of learning that are most commonly taught. 2. To obtain the various instructional aids that are available from the automotive industry to industrial arts teachers for use in teaching automobile mechanics at the secondary school level. 3. To develop suitable criteria for use in evaluating those instructional aids that are available. 4. To evaluate the instructional aids available in order to determine their probable effectiveness and practicability in teaching automobile mechanics. 5. To determine if there are instructional aids that can be developed and used by the instructor that are not available from commercial sources. 6. If there are instructional aids that can be developed but which are not available, one of the purposes of this study is to prepare plans and specifications for the construction of such aids.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship of the psychological sex role of a person making sociometric nominations to the psychological sex role of such persons nominated. It was hypothesized that similar psychological and biological sexed persons would choose each other as friends and that similar psychological but opposite biological sexed persons would reject each other as non-friends.

The problem of this study was to isolate a constellation of "signs" or items of behavior of individuals on the Bender-Gestalt test and to determine if these signs will discriminate significantly between one patient category, paranoid schizophrenia, and three other major diagnostic categories.

This study was undertaken in the belief that a greater relationship would be revealed between the Rorschach and intelligence test scores if the factors in the Rorschach which have been found in the past to be related to intelligence could be compared as a whole with scores obtained on mental tests. The purpose of this study was to determine whether it could be demonstrated that a higher degree of relationship does exist between several of the Rorschach factors, considered as a whole, and intelligence as revealed by the California Test of Mental Maturity.

The purposes of this study are: (1) to provide a history of school health programs; (2) to secure from authorities in the field an idea of what constitutes a good school health program; (3) to examine present programs in Texas Public High Schools of 50 to 500 enrollment in order to determine the nature of activities being carried on; (4) to show how programs are organized, administered, and financed; and (5) to point out existing deficiencies and to offer recommendations for improving present programs based upon the most successful and outstanding patterns.

The primary problem in this study was to develop a comprehensive long-range plan for Arkansas Baptists to use as a guide in meeting their needs in the field of Christian higher education. These needs were viewed in two ways: 1. Need as related to the purposes and philosophy of Christian higher education of Southern Baptists; 2. Need as related to the number of persons to be served.

The problem of this study was to develop an analytical and descriptive technique for rating the performances of student teachers. In order to arrive at a solution to this problem, the following sub-problems were to be solved; namely, 1. To develop and validate a set of criteria for describing and rating the performances of student teachers; 2. To develop and validate a descriptive rating scale utilizing those criteria; 3. To develop a technique for using this descriptive rating scale; 4. To establish reliability of the instrument and to demonstrate the ability of the instrument to perform its intended functions.

The mills in Texas have always had to compete with the large mills located in the Eastern states, which have many advantages over the Texas mills. ... The purpose of this paper is to give a historical account of the railroad systems in the southern states prior to 1860.

Standing on the threshold of a new decade, Texas agriculture is faced with three major problems. The first of these problems is the imperative need for a sound soil and water conservation program. Texas has been struggling with this problem for fifty years and has made some progress toward its solution. During the war, however, it was an all-out production of food regardless of cost, either in terms of dollars or resources. As a result, the conservation problem is more acute today than ever before. The second problem is that farm production is out of balance. Lucrative prices for oil and grain crops, plus the increasing shortage of farm labor, turned thousands of farmers from the more stable diversified farm program which had been built up during the '30s. Now, they are again faced with quotas and acreage allotments. This calls for necessarily early and probably extensive readjustment of the entire agricultural production program. The third major change in the agricultural picture is the rapid industrialization of Texas during and since the war.
