This study aims to show the relation of the methods of county financing in Texas to the present form of county government. It argues that the present form of county government in Texas is antiquated and inadequate to meet the requirements of efficient administration of county financing.

This is a comparative study of the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades in the Gainesville Junior High School, Gainesville, Texas, to determine the relative progress in meeting the purposes of education in an American democracy, as outlined by the Policies Commission of the National Education Association. This study is made for the purpose of ascertaining the progress made to date in the Gainesville Junior High School and for use as a guide in improving its educational standards in line with the recommendations of the National Educational Policies Commission.

The problem of this study was to determine the extent to which the results of the use of the "Evaluative Criteria" set up by the Southern Association of Secondary Schools agree with the evaluative criteria drawn from standard objectives in an activity program of the Era High School.

The purpose of this study is to give the results of a science experiment in an elementary grade in raising silkworms. The purpose of the experiment was not to learn the laws and principles of science, but to determine whether the life cycle of the silkworm would create a greater interest in the field of science.

The purpose of this study is to make an evaluation of Gainesville Junior High School to determine the extent to which it meets criteria for this type of school. The different phases of the school evaluated were: plant and equipment, library, course of study, techniques of teaching, and extra-curricular activities.

The problem in this study is twofold. First, there will be an attempt to determine the values that organizations in the secondary school have for the development of its students. Second, a survey will be made of the four-year accredited high schools in District Five of Texas to determine how and to what extent they are realizing their responsibilities in this respect.

It is the purpose of this study to determine the identifiable causes of delinquency among children of elementary age in Gainesville and to make proposals for more effective youth services. To do this an analysis will be made of the possible sources and causes of delinquency, a modern educational approach, and the relation between the two.

The problem of this study is an investigation of the development of social adjustment in thirty-three first-grade pupils in Gainesville, Texas, during 1949-1950. A survey of language in a certain area is designed primarily to present a living language as it is actually spoken; thus, a morphological study of language is designed to determine the most widely-used syntactical and grammatical forms and to record these forms in a statistical manner. These findings are to be interpreted in the light of similar studies, not with the purpose of establishing the cultural level of the language in the area surveyed, but to present all the possible variations, and, in some cases, to draw a comparison as a matter of record between the forms found to be commonly used in every-day speech and the standard usage as given by leading linguistic authorities.

The problem of this study is to (1) determine the amount of peer acceptance existing among a group of delinquent girls committed to the Texas State Training School for Girls and (2) to determine the relationships between peer acceptance and some other variables.

"This paper is the result of a study of the oil industry in Cooke County Texas. Consideration was given to the following factors: the physiography and geology of Cooke County, the first oil developments, opening of various fields, the Tydal Refinery, and the benefits of the oil industry to the county in terms of employment, busines establishments, schools, and social efforts. Both persona and documentary source were utilized for obtaining data on the present problem. Primary sources included statements made by land owners of Cooke County, oil operators, drillers, refinery personnel, business men, civic leaders, and the superintendents of schools, both in Gainesville, Texas, and in Cooke County.
