The problem with which this investigation was concerned was the level of knowledge about the leadership style of the chief student affairs administrators in Southern Baptist colleges and universities. The four purposes of the study were as follows: 1. To determine the prevalent leadership style of the chief student affairs administrators in Southern Baptist colleges and universities in terms of the Blake and Mouton Managerial Grid concept• 2. To determine if self-reported leadership style is congruent with the leadership style determination obtained through an instrument developed to analyze leadership style; 3. To determine if the following are factors in the leadership choice of the chief student affairs administrators in Southern Baptist colleges and universities: - Size and complexity of the institution. - Age. - Years of experience as a chief student affairs administrator. - Educational preparation, i.e. academic, administrative, or religious

The purpose of this study was to identify and compare the job performance expectations of recent journalism graduates as perceived by selected managing editors and journalism educators in Standard Federal Region Six (the states of Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Texas). The survey instrument consisted primarily of statements dealing with the topics of five research questions on the value of journalism education to success on newspapers, the value of newspaper experience to teaching journalism, the language skills of recent graduates, the value of academic research to the improvement of newspapers, and the "gap" between journalism education and journalism practice.

This study primarily attempts to (1) identify the specific adjustment problems anticipated by international students prior to departure from their home countries and those actually experienced while studying in America, (2) compare any significant, differences that may exist between problems as anticipated and as experienced in terms of levels of difficulty, and (3) investigate the discrepancy means between problems as anticipated and as experienced in relation to selected personal variables. The instrument used to gather the needed data is a questionnaire developed by the researcher. The initial questionnaire of 182 problem items was validated by a panel of experts and pretested on a small sample of international students. The revised questionnaire consists of two main sections; Section A contains fourteen items of demographic and personal data on the subjects, and Section B contains seventy-two items on problems that are purposely categorized into the eight related areas of student personnel services of (1) communication and language, (2) academic, (3) social-cultural, (4) psychological-personal, (5) financial, (6) health, (7) housing and food, and (8) international student advising.

This study is an investigation of the importance of institutional goals as perceived by the faculty and students in Chung-ang University in Seoul, Korea. The purposes of this study are (1) to determine if significant differences exist between the perceptions of faculty and students as to the present and ideal institutional goals of the university, (2) to determine if significant differences exist between the perceptions of faculty and students of different colleges as to the present and ideal institutional goals of the university, and (3) to determine if significant differences exist between the present and ideal institutional goals as perceived by the faculty and students within each of the colleges of the university.

The problem of this study was to determine the relationships between student's self-perceptions and their perceptions of the teacher, and the students' ratings of teacher/course evaluations, utilizing the concept of Value Systems Analysis. To accomplish the purposes of this study, the following questions were examined: 1) What are the value systems of the students? 2) What are the relationships between the student's value systems and the student's perception of the teacher's value systems? 3) What are the relationships between the student's value systems and the student's rating of the teacher/course evaluation? 4) What are the relationships between the student's perception of the teacher's value systems and the student's rating of the teacher/course evaluation? This study concludes that the use of the Coping Systems Inventory, a Teacher Assessment Form, and a Teacher/Course Evaluation Form to determine the relationships between student value systems and student evaluations of teachers has produced a sufficient number of positive relationships to recommend that the use of the three instruments together be further researched.

The purpose of this study was to determine whether differences exist among counselors, academic faculty, and occupational faculty, on two campuses of a junior college district, with respect to the emphasis they believe that counselors should place on specific counseling activities.

The purposes of this study were to discover the current status of church administration of the Evangelical Churches of West Africa (ECWA) and to offer recommendations. In order to achieve these purposes, an extensive review of the professional literature dealing with church administration and management was conducted, and a questionnaire was constructed and categorized into the following broad areas of church administration: (1) church government, (2) educational leadership (3) evangelism and missions, (4) financial management, and (5) general administration. The following conclusions were drawn: 1. Management of church affaris under the four administrative church councils appears to be less than effective. 2. Professional local church leadership appears to be weak. 3. Strategies regarding recruitment of missionaries and mission finances appear weak. 4. The ECWA appears to lack both an acceptable criteria and specified groups for evaluation of theological programs. 5. Better financial management is one of ECWA's major areas of need. 6. Written personel guidelines and job descriptions are a critical need in ECWA church administration. 7. The need for effective communication may be one of the major problems facing ECWA.

The purpose of this study was to describe graduate courses and programs of professional education at selected institutions which emphasized the preparation of educators to work with Blacks, Indians, and Spanish American (EISA). Information from a survey of college and university graduate catalogs and the review of literature was used to select three institutions for an in-depth study. The institutions selected for study were East Texas State University (ETSU) at Commerce, the University of Texas at Austin (UT/Austin), and the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). Although only three institutions were selected for in-depth study, there seems to be evidence to support the following conclusions: (1) there seem to be more courses and programs with emphases on preparing educators to work with BISAs when outside funding is available, (2) continuation of courses and programs to prepare educators to work with BISAs seems to be directly influenced by the interest and involvement of individual instructors, (3) the instructors who were the most interested in preparing educators to work with multicultural groups seem to have larger classes, (4) the ethnic background of the instructor also seems to influence the effectiveness of a course, (5) a nonthreatening learning atmosphere seems to influence …
