The creation of Narrative Art Through the Combination of Visual and Verbal Images
This project was designed to afford me the opportunity to work with the possibility of combining painting and music through the creation of narrative art. I endeavored to produce a body of work in which the individual paintings and songs would also stand on their own as autonomous works, and still function as components of a work that was larger in scope. The challenge was to develop the visual and verbal elements into a unified whole.

An Evaluation of Outdoor Advertising Art from 1920 to 1950
For several years the author has viewed with interest the various kinds of outdoor signs. College courses in advertising art and advertising procedure, as well as practical experience in the advertising field, have increased his interest in this fascinating business and prodded him on to further investigation. With the desire to extend his knowledge of outdoor advertising and to pass on the body of his research to others who find it useful, the author has undertaken this study.

Presentation Techniques of Three-Dimensional Woven Forms
The intent of this problem was twofold: (1) to demonstrate the adaptability of woven tubular forms in an exhibition space and (2) to demonstrate how support structures could be successfully combined with woven fabric forms as part of the overall design. The problem was executed to alleviate some of the limitations imposed by exhibition spaces. Specifically, the more versatile the piece, the greater the potential for aesthetic and structural effect.

Compositions in Clay and Rhythm
I constructed ceramic/mixed media instruments, recorded rhythmic music composed for and played on my instruments, and prepared a slide presentation portraying my daily rituals a studio artist. I describe in this paper the process involved in creating this environment and give an interpretation of the work by answering the following questions. 1. What were the rituals that were essential to the creation of my work? 2. In what ways did the use of the different visual and audio media work together to create a unified environment? 3. In what ways was the total experience of the different media a more direct and fulfilling expression of my goals as an artist, or are these goals better fulfilled when working in one media?

Copper Matt Finish: A Study of Effects Achieved Through Use of Colorants and Reduction Methods
The unique nature of this process raised major technical questions that I intended to address during this project. The purpose was to obtain a quality surface, considering both visual and textural considerations, while using the copper matt finish.

The Combination of Objects in Box-Like Containers
For my project, I chose to construct ten containers in which clay and non-traditional drawings were combined. The various materials used were ceramics, drawings on Plexiglas, wood, and other found materials. The questions to be answered by the completion of the ten pieces were the following: 1. What types of containers are most complimentary in combining ceramics and drawings? 2. What types of drawing media are most successful for combining drawings with ceramics? 3. What types of presentation are most successful? 4. What three-dimensional materials other than ceramics are visually important in the combined pieces?

Fibre-Tip Pen Line Techniques
In selecting a thesis project, my interest and experience with fibre-tip pen drawings suggested that further investigations would be profitable. Fibre-tip pens provide a fast and convenient means to draw under outdoor conditions. The pens make dense black and consistent lines at whatever speed they are moved. The ink supply is automatic; not requiring a separate container for dipping and not requiring cleaning. Fibre-tip pens designed to make lines of different widths are commercially available at low cost.

Ikat: The Combination and Rearrangement of Simple Individual Dyed Patterns into Complex Designs
Ikat is a technique used throughout the world for the surface enrichment of textiles. In Ikat, patterns are dyed into the warp, weft, or both by the use of various resists such as twine or plastic wrapped tightly around a group of yarns. The dyed yarns are then unwrapped and woven into fabric. Instead of stretching an entire warp or weft on a frame to apply resist, yarn can also be measured into small groups for tying and dyeing. These small groups of yarn can be dyed with simple patterns and later rearranged and combined to create more complex designs. In order to investigate the possibilities of the above mentioned methods, a series of Ikat fabrics was developed.

A Student Interior Design Laboratory Manual for Perspective Drawing 134
This paper is to present a student interior design laboratory manual for Perspective Drawing 134. A mechanical and freehand approach to the grid method of perspective is used. Chapter I reviews the significance of the problem, definitions of terms of perspective, data sources and method of procedure. Chanter II explains a brief overview of perspective from primitive man to its present use in interior design. Chapter III reviews the general principles of perspective. Chapter IV presents the grid method to one-point and two-point perspective, both mechanical and freehand approaches. Included are step by step illustrations and explanations of the method. Chapter V summarizes the intent of this study.

An Investigation of the Evolution of Three-Dimensional Mixed-Media Forms From Two-Dimensional Mixed-Media Surfaces
This document is an attempt to objectify the subjective. The purpose of the investigation was to determine how a previous mode of expression, namely, two dimensional mixed media, could evolve toward an expressive mode which incorporated the making of three dimensional works. The main concern was to determine how the two dimensional statement gave way to one which was three dimensional, or what constituted the three dimensionality of the work.

Altering the Muzak Situation
The project involved producing a group (16) of audio-visual installations that successfully displayed and exposed various Muzak situations. The following questions, relating to individual pieces, were of concern: 1. What is the basic intent of each installation or piece? 2. Does the piece communicate the intent of the artist? 3. Pottery and Tiles of Guanajuato, Mexico
This paper is the result of a study made in Guanajuato, Mexico, in the summer of 1945. It is an attempt to set forth the development of the methods used in making pottery and tiles in this region -- to trace the methods, forms, and motifs from the pre-Conquest period through the Colonial and contemporary periods, to find what changes have come about in the art of making pottery and tiles, and to discover the causes of these changes.

The Use of Native Materials in the Ante Bellum Buildings of Harrison County, Texas
This study is a report of the results of an investigation into the extent to which native materials were used in the antebellum buildings of Harrison County, Texas; the way in which they were used; and the aesthetic implications of their use. It was hoped that this research might fill a gap in the art and architectural history of Texas, since nothing has been written on this specific subject except a few articles and unpublished papers dealing with certain houses individually or with log construction in general.

Glazes for Metals

Color Preferences of Children in a Dallas Public School
The problem of this study examines two questions which were posed. First, would color preferences of children in the N.W. Harllee School of the Dallas Independent School District be the same as those found in other studies of color preferences of elementary school children? Second, would there be differences in choices made by low academic aptitude groups and high academic aptitude groups? In an attempt to answer these questions, a series of tests was devised and administered to children grades IV through VII.

The Artbook: A Synthesis of Literary and Visual Imagery
In order to more fully explore this problem and to uncover important aspects of my work and work processes, I posed these questions to be answered after the completion of the five books: 1. In what ways am I able to synthesize the traditional concerns of the literary and visual image into an Artbook format? 2.
