Fire threatened the farm home of Bill Jasper, southwest of Jones, before being brough under control. Fire fighting units from Oklahoma City, Jones, Spencer, and Nichols Hills battled the flames and damage was held to burned pasture, fences, and timber. Authorities urged extreme caution by motorists in rural, dry-grass areas. Grass fires in the Oklahoma City area this spring have plagued city firemen."

Photograph used for a story in the Oklahoma City Times newspaper. Caption: "Grass and paved roads, and a surprising layout of buildings, are shown in this aerial photo of the grounds of the Oklahoma State fair. It was taken from the main entrance on May avenue, looking west, as the fair was getting set for the September 24 opening. The three race tracks, grandstand and stage can be seen in the lower left. That circle of paving in the background, just above the grandstand, is the new layout for the carnival. Anf that huge bare space is the location of the newly proposed arena for big conventions and livestock shows. The exact circle, upper right, is the center of the whole grounds, with the women's and appliance buildings just to the lower left of the circle; livestock barns upper center of the picture, agricultural building just above the circle, and the Future Farmers of America and 4-H buildings to the right. You can see the lagoon near the entrance. Some day it will be the center of a year-around kiddie land and picnic area of the city's dreams come true."

Photograph used for a story in the Daily Oklahoman newspaper. Caption: "A huge paving project under way on the Oklahoma City fairgrounds is transforming more than nine acres of grassland around State Fair Arena into hard-surfaced parking lots. Believed to be the largest project of its type in the metropolitan area, the five parking areas will be constructed of soil-cement. C. C. Keller jr., state paving engineer for the Portland Cement Association, said it is the largest such project "in at least the last six years and probably longer" in the greater Oklahoma City. In making soil-cement, Portland cement is mixed with soil and water to create the base and the paving substance. A surface of asphaltic oil and limestone chips is rolled onto the top. The five lots under construction comprise 42,000 square yard, Keller said. Work is expected to be completed by June 1, barring exessive rainy weather. Earl Schweikhard, said the paving project was made possible through $75,000 voted by the city council. Of that amount for fairgrounds maintenance work, $40,000 is being spent on the parking lot construction he said. "The lots will be on all sides of the State Fair Arena," Schweikhard said. Four families on Ferguson Dr. were quietly rebuilding their lives Wednesday. The father of a fifth family was in Texas where his wife and younf son are hospialized with serious burns. His other two children died as a result of the crash and explosion of a jet fighter Friday in Midwest City. A ground crater in the backyard of a home at 337, formely occupied by Mr. and Mrs. Foy Hurst and their son Foy jr., shows where the nose of the jet first hit the ground. Two doors away at 325, the plane came to rest in the Donald Tuttle home, exploding in a sheet of fire which killed Tibbie Lynn Tuttle, 2, and caused fatal burns to Judith, 4. The Tuttle house is a skeleton of charred timbers and rubble that was furniture."
