A consensus statement on detection of hippocampal sharp wave ripples and differentiation from other fast oscillations (open access)

A consensus statement on detection of hippocampal sharp wave ripples and differentiation from other fast oscillations

Article suggests that common standards for recording, detection, and reporting for intracranial recordings in humans that suggest their role in episodic and semantic memory does not exist. Authors of the article outline the methodological challenges involved in detecting ripple events and offer practical recommendations to improve separation from other high-frequency oscillations, and argue that shared experimental, detection, and reporting standards will provide a solid foundation for future translational discovery.

Description of making pitang oying

Joya Medok Doley describes the process of making pitang oying, a traditional dish of the Mising community made with rice and chicken. She begins by washing the rice with water. After washing, a small amount of water is left so the grains expand. She then peels ginger and garlic. Black pepper and chilies should be added based on the amount of curry that is being made. Then, she removes the soaked rice and pounds it with a mortar and pestle. The rice is pounded till it becomes grainy. The hen is put into hot boiling water. This makes it easy to remove the feathers. The hen is then roasted in the fire. For the pitang oying, big pieces of chicken are preferred. These pieces are tied together with a string or leaf so that the pieces of the same hen do not get mixed with other hen's pieces because the dish is being made for a ui (domestic puja). Mustard oil is put on a wok. Then, we wait until it becomes hot. Paanch phoran (Indian masala) is put and stirred until black, then chicken pieces are placed. Onions are added, followed by ginger-garlic paste. Black pepper, chili paste, tumeric, …

Effect of composition and thermal history on deformation behavior and cluster connections in model bulk metallic glasses

Article describes the compositional dependence and influence of relaxation state on the deformation behavior of a Pt–Pd-based bulk metallic glasses model system was investigated, where platinum is systematically replaced by topologically equivalent palladium atoms. Based on total scattering experiments with synchrotron X-ray radiation, a correlation between the increase in stiffer 3-atom cluster connections and reduction in strain-rate sensitivity, as a measure of ductility, with Pd content and thermal history is suggested.

Improving the Selectivity of the C-C Coupled Product Electrosynthesis by Using Molecularly Imprinted Polymer-An Enhanced Route from Phenol to Biphenol

Authors of the article describe how they developed a procedure for selective 2,4-dimethylphenol, DMPh, direct electro-oxidation to 3,3' ,5,5'-tetramethyl-2,2'-biphenol, TMBh, a C-C coupled product. The authors claim that the procedure is reasonably selective towards TMBh without requiring harmful additives or elevated temperatures.
