Federal Disaster Assistance after Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, Wilma, Gustav, and Ike
Report that provides information on federal financial assistance provided to the Gulf States after major disasters were declared in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Texas in response to the widespread destruction that resulted from Hurricanes Katrina, Rita, and Wilma in 2005 and Hurricanes Gustav and Ike in 2008. This includes a brief summary of each hurricane and a discussion concerning federal to state cost-shares.

Deepwater Horizon Response: Gulf of Mexico Oil Spill Response
This website served as the focal point for the Deepwater Horizon Unified Command, a group of organizations that had involvement with the British Petroleum (BP) explosion and oil spill that occurred in the Gulf of Mexico in April 2010. The website includes news feeds and information about health concerns, volunteer opportunities, contact information, and ongoing plans for the area. Various maps of the event and other resources are also available, chronicling the problem and the steps taken by the member organizations to deal with the effects.

Shivers discusses discovering her sexuality, her relationships, nursing school, church involvement, closeting and her marriage, jobs worked, moving to Dallas, the LGBT community, joining the Metropolitan Community Church and establishing a parish in Dallas, organizing the first Pride parades in the area, political activism and police interference, death threats, and the Kennedy Assassination.

Interview with James F. Brede, dentist and U.S. Army Air Forces veteran. The interview includes his personal experiences in World War II as a B-17 co-pilot with the 8th Air Force in the European Theater, his childhood in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, enlistment in the U.S. Army Air Forces in 1943, preliminary training in Tennessee, Alabama, Missouri, Arkansas, and Texas, his active service with the 379th Bomb Group in Kimbolton, England, combat experience in 35 missions, return to the U.S. and continued military service as a flight instructor in Lakeland, Florida and Wichita Falls, Texas, as well as the return to civilian life, marriage, dental school under the G.I. Bill, reenlistment in the Air Force as a dentist, his deployment to Korea, his discharge from the Air Force, and the establishment of his dental practice and experiences since retirement. The interview includes an appendix with a copy of his book.

A photograph of a sign at the Civil Rights Memorial Center in Montgomery, Alabama. At the top is a melted clock face and beneath it reads "A landmark lawsuit prompted the Southern Poverty Law Center to build a memorial to commemorate those who died during the Civil Rights Movement. Michael Donald was walking to a store in Mobile, Alabama, in 1981 when two Klansmen abducted him. They beat him, cut his throat and hung his body from a tree. He was only 19. In a groundbreaking lawsuit, the Center proved that the United Klans of America was responsible for Donald's death. This same organization committed some of the worst violence during the civil rights era, including the church bombing that killed four girls in Birmingham in 1963 and the slaying of Viola Liuzzo during the Selma-to-Montgomery voting rights march in 1965. In 1987 an all white jury awarded Donald's mother $7 million. The historic verdict put the United Klans out of business and forced the group to turn over its headquarters to Beulah Mae Donald, the victim's mother."
